Topic: SURGERY TOMORROW.... HOPEFULLY
Hello My January buddies - tomorrow is the day..... I finally have my gall bladder removed. I was wondering, for those of you who have already had theirs removed, is it really that painful of a recovery. I was told it is worse that RNY, honestly my bypass was a breeze, so now I'm getting nervous..... I hate pain. It seems as I get older I can't take pain as well. Would love to hear other experiences.... thanks - Marta

Hey Steph, Try not to be too discouraged. I had some weeks like that too. I really think the surgery in October helped push me to goal and then some. I am still hanging in at 114. I am comfortable and okay with this. I am not worried since I have maintained here now for 3-4 weeks. I was alarmed that I could fit s ize 16 in girls clothes. I have found that most places do not carry anythinng less than a size 4. I can't do Juniors because they shorten the zipper ridiculously and they don't make the pants legs wide enough. Go figure that on a girls size 16 they do. I was really depressed when realization sunk in that all the clothes and cute shorts I bought last summer no longer fit at all. I know I shouldn't complain, but it's just how it goes. I will add Anna and Mary to the Prayer patrol for next week. Hugs and have a great week everyone! Lindy

I would get a second opinion. I had to have some huge fibroids (one was the size of my uterus) removed last October 2007 due to problems. The doctor never mentioned that there would be a problem with scar tissue. I feel better today than ever. Keep us posted on the outcome. Hugs, Lindy

I tried to get my OB to do a tubal ligation and he refuse due to my RNY and something about scarring. I'm like huh??????? I have more scarring from my C-section then my RNY. Should I get a second opinion. I have very good reason to get my tubes tied. I have RA and on several nasty drugs that will damage a fetus. I would actually have to be off them for at least 6 months before even trying to get pregnant. So anything short of a very planned pregnancy is a huge no no. I just can't figure out why he has refused. Uggghhh. Anna

The quote was 13,180.00 For the surgeons fee for the LBL and the BL It will be an extra 4,675.00 for hospital stay- 300, Anesthesia - 2,425.00, and operating room - 1,950.00. I love that he can do it all at once and that he can use that loose skin on my side above my bra. That's like getting a freebie...lol. Get's rid of it and makes my breasts have more volume too. Anna

I was hoping she would have been able to update us tonight, too. I know she was spending the night at the hospital so she may not even be home yet. Hope it went great and we hear from her soon!

My teacher's assistant just had a lap hysterectomy and she was up and around, back as normal in just 2 days. Sounded pretty similar to the GBP surgery. As far as the panni removal, as long as they aren't tightening the muscles, that is not supposed to be so horrible. At least that is what I am banking on, since I am having a LBL on Thursday too! Best luck on a speedy recovery, and hopefully we'll both be back on here this weekend telling everyone that it was a breeze?!
