dry dry hands and skin - and more

I haven't logged in for a long while. I apologize.
I didn't even acknowledge my 2 year surgiversary...so much has gone on in my life recently.
I got downsized from my job (6 years) right before the holidays so needless to say that was devastating. And I have been emotionally eating and drinking - but luckily I've also been working out more! I'm also having really bad marital problems - was going to get a divorce but then i lost my job and I don't think I'm emotionally strong enough to handle all of this!

Thanks for letting me vent.

Now on point - i live in NY/NJ and it's so cold. My hands at night are like sandpaper with a lot of little cuts on my fingers. I literally dipped my hands in olive oil and put special gloves on them to sleep, also using neosporin on the cuts but it really isn't helping much.

What vitamins should I be taking to help this specifically? would it be efa ? Any input here would be appreciated. I know I should ask my doctor and I'm seeing my surgeon next week but I thought it would be a good reason to get back onto this forum and ask you guys,

I hope everyone is doing good (better than me!) and that you are celebrating.

As far as weight loss I've done very well (thankfully) - I actually lost more than expected - but I guess that's good since they say you gain weight in the 3rd year - it's better to lose more now!

My starting weight was 272 and these days I fluctuate from 127-130.

Hope to hear back from some of you.  by the way - hi Stephanie! Glad to see you are doing well.

Beth

Hi, Beth...we are surgery twins! Glad to see that you are doing well with maintaining your weight in spite of the other challenges in your life right now. I wish you all the best in working things out so that your life is the way you want and need it to be.

With regard to your dry skin issues, of course staying hydrated through sufficient fluid intake (read: water ) is key. But, in addition, it could indicate deficiencies in Vitamin A and/or B Vitamins. You might want to up your intake of B vitamins, as you can't overdose on those...any excess is excreted out in your urine. I take sub-lingual B12 and a B Complex tablet nearly everyday just to stay on top of my values.
Vitamin A can be taken in tablet form, but is also found in dark, leafy greens, carrots, and cantaloupe. I prefer to get my intake up by eating more salads made with dark lettuces and spinach, as well as by eating more greens and carrots.
I hope this helps.

And remember, if you need support...we are all just a post away!

 Thanks Suz!
I'm sure I don't drink enough water and I def drink a lot of coffee which further dehydrates me.
I take a lot of vitamins in addition to the B's and A's but I will def try to up my water intake.

Happy 2 year sister!
