Anyone travel outside of the US ??
Hi Everyone -
I haven't been on here alot lately, work is insane. It never seems to let up. I just found out that I'm going to be traveling to Hong Kong in june and will be over there for about 12 days. I've been there b/4 for work, but never was concerned about what I ate. Has anyone traveled there since surgery? I'm concerned about the food. Believe me it is delicious but i no longer eat noodles or rice or pasta like I did. I do eat chinese food here, not that it is the same as over there. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences eating outside of there normal environment ( if that makes sense).
I'm also not looking forward to the airplane food and or flight for 14 - 18 hours. i guess i'll pack alot of protein bars and hope for the best.
Any suggestions would be great.....
thanks -
Marta
I never even travel *in* the US! I am so lame. But, I have to say that your upcoming trip sounds amazing. Just try to stick to veggies, meats and seafoods and you should be fine. I would think that shouldn't be a problem in Hong Kong. If you are staying at a hotel, chances are that you will have more American choices offered there than out at restaurants. Definitely pack lots of protein bars...it can't hurt...and at least you'll know that you have something healthy to munch on when you're on the go.
Have a great time, Marta....I'm so jealous ;o).

I do have some advice as far as traveling in airplanes with the security. Do not even try to take any protein drinks with you carry on. You would have to check as far as check in baggage. Not sure about that one but I know they will take it away if it is even water doesn't matter if it is un-opened they will take it away. If it is the powdered kind you add water too they take it away. If it is slim fast they take it away. I had a fairly new post op friend fly recently and she was postal over all that stuff being taken away as much as it all costs. Hope this helps.
