Back from Surgery!
9 lbs? are you kidding me? Could you barely move? I can hardly move its not even funny. I was crying it hurt so bad. Do you think it was the vertical extension that has me in so much pain?
Also, they removed 4 lbs of skin from my tummy, but why have I gained 7 lbs and not lost 4? I am up 11 lbs. Yes 11 lbs. I am so swollen and can barely move. I do have to say my breasts and tummy look great!!
I need to lay back down though. Glad things are well with you! Can't wait to see pics, I'll send some too! I had to stay in the hospital 2 nights the pain was so bad
Janie- My guess is that I had it easy because he did not tighten any of the muscles. I literally walked to the car on my own 3 hours after my surgery and have never had any extreme pain. He said that is where 99% of the pain comes from the muscle tightening and he did not recommend it in my case. I bet you are going to be flat as a pancake, though! I know you will be happy in the long run.
I am with you on the weight gain though! He took 9 pounds and I have only lost 2.
Do you have drains in? If there aren't any drains, that is definitely why. I am not all that swollen but I have two really annoying drains. I am hoping it all evens out in a few weeks and I can see the loss on the scales. I did try on some pants I bought before surgery, and I have lost 4 pants sizes... from a 14 to a 10. So even though the scales really haven't changed, it is obviously dramatic!
My stomach is tight, but my butt is tighter. I feel like I am going to pop my incisions! I have to say though, my butt looks so much better than I ever imagined... smooth, round, and high. I think it will look better than my stomach!!! Too bad I never get to look at it! lol!
HAPPY AND QUICK HEALING! Hopefully we can trade some pics next week!!!
YEAH FOR US BOTH!
Janie! I am so sorry! It has to be the muscles being tightened during your surgery. I mean I had an entire body lift and a breast revision just 4 days ago and I drove myself to the mall today and shopped for bras and swimsuits. I am also totally off my pain meds. I am NOT meaning to sound like I am bragging, AT ALL! The muscle tightening is the only difference I can imagine that is making you suffer so much. That just HAS to be the difference that I am pretty normal shape already and you are still suffering. I am so, so sorry. I bet it is similar to when I had the breast lift and augmentation. Because the implants were under the muscle, I was so stinking miserable for about 5 days. I will be praying for you and fingers crossed that you turn the corner very soon. You are a week out now, so hopefully you are about to make some serious ground on the healing. UHG! I know it is miserable now, but I bet your tummy is going to be as flat as a pancake soon!
Belle - OMG it hurts so bad and I am extremely bloated and so tired. I haven't cooked in days. I feel so extremely tired and the meds don't help, well with the pain, yes, but they get me so tired. The dr. had to up my meds from 15 ml liquid vicodine every 4 hours (I forget the name and I"m too tired to go look it up) to 15 every 3 and also has added valume. He must think I'm a wimp and can't handle any pain, that the valume will shut me up. lol!
Oh and the bloating, 4 lbs of skin removed and I am up 10 lbs? I haven't eaten much eaither, I know it's the fluids, but the scale has to go done soon right?
Sorry, the Loratab is kicking in and I'm falling asleep I'll talk to you soon and am glad that you're recvoering well.
Holy Cow, I just reread your post, you went down 4 sizes since your first sugery? I'm impressed. A total new you. When the swelling is down I'll send pics, you do the same!
Janie-
About the pain meds, I ended up switching from the liquid vicodin (up to 30 ml every 4 hours) to the pill form and found the pill form helped me more. (This is with the first surgery.) The liquid kicks in really quickly, which is great, but it also wore off really quickly for me. I was only making it 2-3 hours at first. The pills last much longer, but take about 30 minutes to kick in. Just a thought. I hope you are turning a corner.
Unless you have obviously muscle distention, my PS will not tighten the abdominal muscles. He said that the muscle tightening causes 95% of the pain, but only give normal patients a small increase in flatness of the abdomin, again, unless your muscle were distended. He just said that he does not do it. Period.
It will be interesting to see your results though. I bet you will be super flat when the swelling goes down. I think it will be good for those on this site thinking about abdominal surgeries to be able to compare. I had the LBL with no abdomincal tightening, and you had the TT with tightening and verticle incision. I think there will be a noticable difference in our results. I think you will be tighter and flatter. It will be interesting to compare. Also, you don't have drains, right? I am sure that is why you are holding so much fluid.
It is amazing how differently 2 similar surgeries can go?!
Good luck on weaning off some of the meds and getting the fluids moving out of your system.
