How do you treat your colds now???
I am trying to catch my first cold and I never really took cold medicines before surgery and now I think I am trying to catch my first cold since I had my surgery....which is pretty amazing!!
I think it may be allergies but it could also be a cold...my nose is stuffy and running and my throat is a little sore and my eyes are ge****ery at times, especially when I blow my nose.
So what have you guys found to be a good way to treat the above symptoms since surgery??
Steph with the red nose
Since I have been battling with huge sinus problems lately, the doc first treated it OTC and I verified that I could take what he wanted me to. He had me do 3 days only of Afrin nose spray (so I wouldn't get hooked on it) and then I could take the generic of Robitussin which is Tussi DM because it has only a small amount of guaffenisen which can upset pouches supposedly.
Hope this helps. Nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand. I have had to go on heavy duty antibiotics for sinus infection and have a nasty procedure known as a sinus wash and will have to do it again tomorrow. I have been so healthy since surgery that the only problem seems to be allergies between November and now. I am going to have to probably submit to allergy testing. Ick.
It is really funny though, I felt bad all the time before surgery and when I was sick which was often it was really bad. Now when I am really sick--sinus infection into the bone--I still feel good. LOL
Take care!
Hugs,
Katy
Thanks Katy!! I went to Wal Mart on my lunch break and got some Tylenol Sinus so we will see how that does. So far I can't see a difference and I took it an hour ago. My daughter had the stick test last year and it was not too bad. And now she is taking shots and all kinds of meds for her allergies. Hopefully this will work for her. And good luck to you on the procedure for tomorrow. Hope you don't have to do it again.

Nyquil Baby!!! Makes me go right to sleep! Well, that was before surgery, I haven't taken anything since surgery. Well, I did have that one episode after surgery but I was given a prescription and that made me feel all better!!! Of course it had codien (sp?) in it. But since then I haven't taken anything. Hope you feel better Steph. Were you sick on the cruise?
Steph-
Haven't been on the boards I've been so sick-
Your avatar looks beautiful!!!
Colorado and Texas have really bad flu outbreaks right now.. my husband got it, then the triplets, then me...
sore throat, cough, achiness, runny nose...
the only thing that gives me any relief- on top of the shot, the antibiotics, steroids and the nebulizer treatments from the Doc is Nyquil. I take the liquid cherry. I get a good sleep in and that seems to help the most-

Steph- I have a horrible cold right now. My first one since surgery, too, I think. serves me right for bragging recently about how good my health has been!!! Anyway, I take the Dayquil/Nyquil gel caps and just regular sudafed caplets. I have heard that we are supposed to take the liquid, but just cannot do it. All three seem to do the job for me. Hope you feel better soon!
