OMG, I'm sooo nervous that I'm going to pick my weight up.. I could honestly cry. I am a year out yesterday and i've lost a total of 153 pounds, but in the last week I have eaten many things that I shouldn't and I didn't get sick or anything, no dumping of any sort.. OMG, I don't know if I was ready yet to lose my tool in the journey of weight loss.. Has anyone else discovered this yet???

Yep...I don't seem to dump like I used to. But, I keep things in perspective...and in moderation. My philosophy is that we (I) had this surgery to live as normal a life as possible. Normal people eat ALL varieties of foods, some healthy and some not so healthy. Normal people choose to eat ALL foods in moderation. So, I choose to eat all foods that I want in moderation. Moderation is the key word for me. I am accountable for every choice that I make today...no matter how lacking in good nutrition it may be. And, just so you know...you haven't lost your tool just yet! Keep doing what you did to lose 153 pounds...treat yourself once-in-a-while...and keep moving forward. We can not rely on dumping to regulate our choices...those have to come from our knowledge of what is best for us. Honesty and consistency is the key. We can't keep doing what we did before surgery...that made us fat and unhealthy. We can keep doing what we have done after surgery...that gave us our lives back...including a sweet now and then. ~Suz

Thanks Suz!!! I too agree with all said!!! I don't every want to become that person I was 1 year ago and although I am losing weight, mentally I still feel if I eat something not healthy or high in sugar/fat or whatever, it will blow me up overnight... Hubby, thinks i'm crazy.. if I eat a sweet, the next day I tell him I think i've gained 20lbs.. he just looks at me and shakes his head!!!! LOL he's encouraging ha... Sonya

yeah- about 6 months ago... I am so proud of you for making it as long as you have- that's impressive!!! Now comes the part where you remember how good you feel before you put a crappy choice in your mouth- atleast that's what i do. Sometimes I still chose to eat it and other times not- that's my life now. When you start to see it on the scale- it's a total wake-up call and you think about the choices you've made and start anew. Good to see you again... Holly

every nite I've hit the scale like a maniac.. i'd slacked off the scale, but now that i've discovered sugar again..i'm a scale junkie again!!!! I do believe if it moves in a direction that I don't want.. it would be a wake up call, but I hope just the thought and realizing that i'm making poor choices when eatin will get me back on track.. we shall see!!!! Thanks Holly!!! ... Sonya

Ive never dumped. And Christmas goodies really got the best of me. But so far since then Ive been back to making good choices at least 90% of the time. LOL. Ive found some good subs for when the sweet tooth strikes. Find a good protein bar. I like one thats called Twisted. Its just like a Take 5 bar. I also make protein balls with PB, oatmeal, protein powder and splenda. And I found a great SF cheesecake recipe. It is so good you wont miss regular cheesecake. Its easy too...1 block of cream cheese brought to room temp. 1 box of SF cheesecake flavor Jello pudding mix and 1/2 a tub of SF cool whip. Just prepare the pudding mix as directed and when set mix in the cream cheese and cool whip. Its delish! Mary

UMMM that sounds tooo good, i'm going to the grocery store and will have some cheesecake for dessert this weekend. Can you give me the measurements for the protein balls as well??? I haven't been doing good with getting my protein in, so the protein balls will help me all the way around. I've really got to get more aggressive with receipes etc; my family stays on the go, so I don't spend much time in the kitchen, which I've got to change as well. .. Thanks Mary!!!! Sonya

You will love the cheesecake. I dont even put it in a crust I just eat it out of the bowl. Sometimes I eat it with a graham cracker. The protein balls are easy and have really gotten me through when it coems to getting in the protein. Its 1 c. PB, 1 c. oatmeal, 1c. protein powder (which is about 2 scoops for the kind I use) and a little splenda. I use about 1/4 c. Mix it all together and hand roll into walnut sized balls. I also like to take crab ,eat and mix it with a little alfredo sauce, some vegies and cheese and bake till the cheese is good and melted. MMMMM Mary
