why am i wanting to eat so much??
Mary - it doesn't sound like you are eating too much food, just maybe not enough protein. Like the others said, eat more protein and hopefully that will hold you over. But oh yes, I can eat more for sure and defiantely get those late night hunger. Grapes are great if you really need something sweet. Though, OMG they are expensive right now. Good luck!! We can all do this together!!
Thanks Janie. Ive always been paraniod that I can eat too much. Now tho I know I can eat a whole sandwich, or more than a cup of food, so I just dont let myself. but maybe I should go ahead and let myself eat that during my meals and see if it wipes out the cravings. Ive got about 60 more lbs to lose and Im so afraid Im not gonna.

Ditto, ditto, ditto on what everyone else says. I feel like the bottomless pit somedays also. But, look at how much more aware of those feelings we are. Before this, one bottomless pit day would have turned into another and another and thats when we looked in the mirror and asked what happened...but now, we are very aware and in tune to those days and we face it head on and do something pro-active the next day to counteract it. I'm scared to death of going back to the old habits, but, I think our tool keeps us more aware and keeps our bad habits in check. Am I making any sense...I feel like I'm rambling in a circle...
Hang in there Mary..your not alone, that's why having each other here is so important...just knowing your not alone sometimes makes getting through something much easier.

Thanks Stacy...lol, yes it made sense! I do think to myself even tho I feel like I can eat too much it is nothing in comparison to what I ate pre-op. Ive had chinese food twice in the past year, McDonalds about 3 times and ZERO cokes! Before I would eat fast food everyday, chinese at least twice a week and coke was downed by the gallons. I'll never let myself go back to those habits, but with 60lbs left to lose Im so afraid of eating too much, not enough, the wrong things at the wrong times.... UGH!!!

Hi Mary -
I have to say that I've been feeling exactly the same way this past week. I even was able to eat homemade mac and cheese last night !!! I find that when I start to eat more carbs - ( pasta, rice, crackers, pretzles, ect..... ) I start to crave more and feel the urge to eat more often. I really do believe like everyone else that when we eat more protein and less carbs we lose the urge. I hope so!!! All I know is that for the past 2 days I'm starting to get scared at how much more of the carbs i can tolerate.
On the postitve side at least your eating way less the amount of carbs you could a year ago and your also very aware of what your eating.
keep up the great work -
Marta
Mary,
I agree whoever said increase your protein during the day. It'll really help with those night time hungries.
You've been on my mind lately. What's the latest on your hyster-surgery? I'm sad to report that after the initial pounds lost immediately following my hyster I've been completely stalled - that's 3 months of no weight lost. Isn't that officially a plateau? Maybe the plateau of all plateaus?? RNY surgeon assures me that it will start dropping again, that the hyster can cause even a 6 month stall (where's that eye popping out smiley??). So I just keep pressing on....
Also, I wanted to let you know that we're being transferred down south again. Not exactly to your area, but closer. We'll be traveling through Milton and we'll surely be in that area frequently (hubbies parents are there) and wondered if you might want to meet for lunch or something some time? Email me. The movers come tomorrow. Ugh!
Margaret, eternally (NOT!) stuck at 183.
Hi Margaret... I would love to meet! That would be great!! Have a safe trip moving. That is such a hassle isnt it?
Im gonna set my hyst. fo April 3. Im scared!! Wow 6 months!! Thats even scarier!!! I still have about 60 lbs to lose. I figure if I can lose 15 more between now and April that will leave me with 45 to go. If they take 10lbs of skin (or hopefully more) that will leave me with only 35lbs to lose. That should be doable. Im terrified that menapause will make me gain tho. Did your doc say anything about that? I asked mine and he said he would put me on hormones that would take care of that. But I always thought when women went through "the change" they gained weight, had no sex drive, got moody and sweaty and felt like crap. Please tell me its not true! LOL
I'll email ya with my number!!
