Mary- It looks to me like you don't eat enough during the day and maybe that's why you're so hungry at night. I would also up your protein earlier in the day- that seems to help me curb my appetite. That said- sometimes i just have days that are out of control with eating choices and portions- I dust myself off and start anew. I will always struggle with my weight- that's something I've come to terms with... Brit

Thanks Brit. It is a constant struggle. I'll try to up my proteins. I have a hard time figuring out what to eat. I eat alot of peanut butter and cheese, and I like meat...ate alot of it pre-op, but it was always stuffed into a big fat yeast roll. LOL I hate eggs and cottage cheese tho and meat alone gets old quick. Thanks again Mary

OK- you made me laugh out loud- stuffed into a big fat yeast roll- that is sooo true!!!! You're right meat alone does get old quick. I'm lucky- I like eggs and there's a lot you can do with them. I'm starting to rediscover veggies and that's what I'm trying to fill up on with the meat. I am also having a love affair with nuts right now. I eat them all- pistachios, almonds, peanuts and cashews... I keep a lot of lunch meat and cheese on hand- just because it's convenient. I eat salad- but with full fat dressing and lots of it- so I don't know if that's a plus or not... I'm anxious to read the sites that Suz listed for you... Thanks for the laugh- Holly

yeah, I really miss those yeast rolls. LOL My brother in law has a bread maker and makes them every year at holidays, so I have to endulge then, but even then I only eat one now instead of the many (many, many) Id have eaten pre-op! I have found sunflower seeds to be a big help. I got the single serving size and its only 60 cal. for the whole bag. I eat a few here in there while Im on the computer and wanna munch and can stretch a bag out over a couple of days. I also have a few protein bars on hand for when I need a sweet fix. I dont think the full fat dressing is so bad. I mean the salad has like no cal. itself so... Mary

Hey Mary: I too am going thru this lately and it is very scary. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone in the struggle and I ditto what Holly said and I am going to try it for myself. I actually noticed this weekend that when I ate I had lots of protein during the day and that kept me from wanting to binge later that night. Good luck to you!

Thanks Stepahnie its reassuring to know its not just me. I still have so much to lose and it scares me that I can eat more so I try hard not to. But maybe I do need to let myself eat more during the day and see if that helps the nite time cravings. mary

Hey Mary....yep, I have to agree with Holly and Stephanie...lots of protein during the day=less over-eating at night. Don't get me wrong...there are days when I feel like a bottomless pit, but the volume of protein during the day seems to lessen the severity of those days (or nights). Looking at your posted day's meals, it seems like you might not be eating enough solid protein to hold you over to the next meal. It seems like a lot of carb based meals...that never holds us over for very long. I would try going back to a protein-forward meal and see if that doesn't begin to curb your appetite a bit after a couple of days. Those darn carbs go down so easy that they are hard to resist! Also, do you still log your foods...do you have a good idea how many calories & protein grams you are getting in everyday? Perhaps it would do you good to do that for a few days to get a clear picture of where you actually stand nutrition-wise...it may be different than you think. Let us know what you come up with. Other than this, how are you doing?? We don't see you around here very often anymore!! ~Suz

Thanks Suz. U may be onto something. Ive been so afraid of overeating I stop myself before Im satisfied and that makes me wanna eat more often. But I know if I let myself I could easily eat a whole sandwich so I stop myself at half. I do guess thats alot of carbs. I have a hard time figuring out protein based foods to eat other than just plain meat. i dont like eggs or cottage cheese but I do eat alot of PB and regular cheese. It is so frustrating. Ive always been afraid I could eat too much but Ive lost about 160 lbs so I guess my surgery aint broke. LOL Mary

Your surgery is certainly not broke! LOL 160 pounds? WOW!!! Let me do some research and see what I can come up with for protein-rich foods...there are lots out there! And don't get me wrong...carbs are good in moderation at this point in the game. We "special people" just need to focus on getting that protein first...but pairing it up with some carbs isn't a bad thing. I'll post what I come up with.
