I can't believe I said that!!
Okay, funny little story...
Last night an old friend of my husband comes by the house while Damon was at a Central Democratic meeting downtown. Tim needed to borrow a chainsaw to clean up a fallen tree that was a casualty in the last round of storms. Anyway, we were talking and catching up since we haven't seen him much in the last couple of years. MacKenzie, my 12 year old daughter, was filling him in on her upcoming wrestling schedule and talking about trying to challenge the varsity position holder in her weight class to try to take the varsity spot for herself. Well, the varsity positions immediately below her weight class and the one that she is in currently are held by two boys that have wrestled pretty much for their entire lives! So, even if she dropped a few pounds and dropped down into the next weight class there's not much chance of her beating either of them. But, the boy that holds the spot in her weight class seems to have a crush on her this year...strange how a year and the beginnings of curves and boobs can make a boy see you in a different light than just a tomboy! We were joking with her that if she could figure out a way to distract him that she might be able to pin him and steal the spot from him. She was blushing and saying that he is always trying to help her by rolling up mats for her, or handing her headgear to her..that kind of thing. So...here's the funny part even though it took forever to get here ...I was looking at her, batting my eyelashes in a very obvious way, and I said "Well, just flash him"...what I was thinking was "bat your eyelashes at him" but that's not what came out of my mouth. Her jaw dropped and so did Tim's...I realized what I said and immediately turned bright red!! I corrected myself and told them what I meant to say, even pointing out that I WAS batting my eyelashes at her to make the point. She confirmed this but it was still a shock to have your own mom tell you to "flash" some kid at wrestling! I have not been that embarrassed by something that I have said in a long time!! So now it looks like I am never going to live that moment down...I will forever hear about "the time that Mom told me to flash Dante at wrestling!"
