1 year surgiversary!!!

Hi all- I'm reposting this from the other 2 forums that I like to try to read. Hope you're all doing well and happy surgiversary too all of you this month!! Hi there everyone! I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone out there. I know these boards have so many different people in different stages of the journey and this message is for all of you. For those of you who are researching and contemplating this surgery, for those of you who just had surgery and are thinking "what the hell did I just do?" for those of you who had the surgery before me and helped me through the times when I was asking the same question and all those in between. First of all the year has just flown by! I can't believe that a year ago today I was laying in the hospital starting my new life. I had no idea where I would be today but I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I've had some bumps in the road and I can't say I'm the "perfect" post surgery person but it was the best thing I have EVER done for myself and more importantly for my family. My kids and my husband love the person that I have become. I have so much more energy, I can do things with them that I was too tired to do before. And most importantly, I will be there for them for MANY years to come! I started this journey 1 year ago today at the weight of 354. When people ask how much I've lost I've gotten to the point that I'm almost embarrased to say how much. I've lost almost 140 pounds and still have weight to lose. Many of the people that ask probably don't even weigh 140 pounds so I can just imagine what they're thinking when I tell them. But I try not to let that bother me too much. Excess skin is a big issue - it's not causing any pain, rashes or health problems but it's there and I hate it. Sooner or later I will have surgery to remove it but we'll cross that bridge when it comes. Anyway, I won't keep blabbing on & on but I wanted to pop in and say hi to my old OH friends and also to the new ones who I don't know. Carrie!!! Happy 1 yr surgiversary!!! Love your new pics. You are beautiful! You have done absolutely amazing!!!!!!! I know how you feel about being embarrassed to tell someome how much you've lost. I either feel that I'm lying or they are thinking I took the easy way out. I'm sure it's all in my head, as other things are. lol! Happy surgiversary to all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've come so far from last year I could just cry. What an amazing year it has been, God is good!

God is definitely good!! And I know I would not have had the results I had if He were not on my side!

Thanks Janie! I still need to work on myself and my self esteem. I was telling a friend from high school about putting on my wedding dress and being able to fit my daughter in there with me and the way I worded it I said "the dress got bigger." He quickly pointed out that, duh, the dress didn't get bigger - you got smaller. Sometimes I don't even realize I talk that way until someone else points it out. Yes, it's been an amazing year! I'm looking forward to continuing to lose weight and hitting goal this year!

Congratulations on a successful weight loss year Carrie!! You should shout your accomplishments out to everyone who asks..even if they weigh less than the amount that you lost! You had done an amazing thing and should not be embarrased. I blurt out the 150 pounds I have lost to everyone who will listen..and get pleasure from it especially from little bitty skinny ppl!
