ontario
I had my LAP RNY on Jan 25/07 at Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto by Dr. David Starr. I am 11 months post-op and down 136 pounds.
From my initial consult to my surgery was exactly one year. I haven't heard of Dr. Huynh he must be new to the team. My surgeon is fairly new to this as well so that is why his wait was one of the shortest in Ontario. At the time of my consult he had only done about a couple dozen operations. He does mostly cancer surgeries.
If I had to do it again I would go to Barics in Michigan or a place where they are Bariatric specialists. Don't get me wrong I like my surgeon but I had strictures 3 times and I wonder if that would have been prevented if I had gone to a surgeon that specializes in this type or surgeon unlike my surgeon who only does this surgery type a couple of times a month.
Good luck with your journey and let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
P S There is an Ontario Forum that you should pop into.
cheers
Thank you so much Debbie that was really very informative. I will like to do the surgery as soon as possible but I could not print the Ohip form to take to my doctor to see if I can be approved for ACC. My appointment as I meantion is not untill the 27th of March I dont think I can wait another year.
Would you kindly walk me through what steps where taken for a Nutritionist and the other specialist and how many times you had to travel to toronto before you finally hard the surgery. I am already in the Ontario forum and everybody talks about the long wait times.
Thanking you in advance
