All these old clothes to give away!

My dear surgery sisters, How have you been handling this? I truely am a clothes horse and the amount of clothes that I've been bagging up and giving to goodwill is just beyond belief! I have saved a ton of professional attire for Dress for Success but haven't yet made the arrangements for them to pick them up (I called and they were elated to get plus sizes). It just kills me though. and then I'm living in fear of what if....I need these big sizes again! I know that's crazy as I had GBS and didn't just lose this through a diet where invariably I would always gain in back. I'd appreciate feedback on how you have been dealing with your clothes issue. I really want to put them to the best use and give them to those who might appreciate it. I don't want to sell them on ebay... I just can imagine that my local goodwill is taking full advantage of all these plus sizes...do you believe i just bagged up 15 pair of jeans (size 18w-20w). I'm having a bit of a freak out here! Any words of wisdom or advise would be appreciated. Thank you! Beth

I've been giving them to Goodwill. I need to get a box going again though from my summer clothes. I spent too much $$ but hey it was worth it!

I would suggest you get them out ASAP! No looking back, no thinking "What if I gain the weight back", get them out and think positive. You WILL NOT need them again, you WILL NOT gain the weight back. Good luck, try to find a place that will donate them to people as opposed to the Goodwill, who sells them. Actually of all the thrift stores, the Goodwill is the best as they are Non-Profit. But, all else fails, give them away to a woman's shelter or something to that extent. I have a sister-in-law, and my mother, to give my bigger clothes away so I was lucky. However, the smaller sizes, 18 and under, I gave away to the thrift store.

We pass them along to our support group for new members who are early pre-op and that need the sizes. I have handed down all of my clothes, but hanging on to anything size 10 and below...just in case I need them when I am pregnant. But soon after the 10's will be out of here, because they fall off of me. I have been loaning a few of the 14's, 12's and 10's to people I directly support, but asked to have those back from my twin sister who is loosing weight and wanting to have this surgery too. It has been the best feeling to get the stuff out of my house. Hope this helps! Lindy

Thank you all for your feedback. Right now, im still giving them to goodwill but will also do Dress for Success. I know I'm being silly about wanting to hold on to them. I have just packed another 6 big garbage bags and they are headed out the door tomorrow!
