I'm finding that the closer I get to my anniversary date the more I'm able to eat. Nothing makes me dump anymore and I chose this surgery as a defense mechanism to keep me from eating sweets. My sweet tooth was my down fall and my reason for gaining weight. So how's your appetite and how do you handle the food?

Hey Genie - I have to admit the past week or two have been hard on me and I find myself eating more sweets and carbs. I honestly think that since I hit goal I fooled myself into thinking I can eat these things again and I have been and I feel horrible. It really makes me feel sluggi****'s so hard with the Holidays and all of the junk food that's out. But now that it's almost over, it's back to the basics for me. I also find that I can eat more and I have never dumped (not sure if that's a good thing or not!) But you know what, what I've eaten today still is 1/4 of what I used to be able to eat a year ago, so I guess that's good!!! Stick to your plan and you will do fine!!!

Same here Genie, I find myself eating more and I have a real sweet tooth as well. Not so much carbs. I just have to be stern with myself. I haven't been because of the holidays but now that it is over I too will be going back to basics. I keep waffling between 148-155. My docs goal is 145 and I am determined to get to 132. I feel like I have wasted a whole month though with my bad food choices, time to get back on track as my 1 year anniversary is the 24th of Jan and my doctors appointment is that same day. I am determined to weigh 145 with all my clothes on....lol. Anna

Genie, We had surgery on the same day! My sweet tooth and carb cravings came back after around 6 months and I've given into them slightly. Yes, I lost weight a bit slower than some people yet still I've managed to drop 110 lbs to date! My head didn't change, my stomache did. MOst of the time I make smart food choices but even when I do (ie fish, salad) I get frustrated because I can only eat a small amount and that bums me out. But then I have to remember the big picture and how great I feel and look and how happy I am that I dropped this weight. My doctor told me that after time I'd be able to eat a little more but not a whole heck of a lot more. If you can seriously pack away a lot of food at this point then you def need to see your surgeon asap. That is very odd! I still get dumping from the strangest of things...and only sometimes (popcorn or a corn muffin - but not chocolate?) Very weird. But I def feel where you are coming from. I need to try to work on my head and come to terms with the fact that I can never eat the way I used to AGAIN. I'm having a hard time dealing with that. I literally want to have my cake (being thin) and eat it too! Hang in there. BEth

Hello, I just wanted to say. Eventuall y you will begin to eat more. My surgeon said, by your 1yr anniversary, you will be able to eat up to a 1c to 1 1/2 of food possibly. Also I have a book called WLS surgery for dummies. And it states eventually you will be able to consume whatever foods you like. You just have to be careful w/ overindulgence. Watch your portion size. I measure every thing. I can eat 4oz in one serving. When im full I stop. Every once in awhile if it's something I really want to eat. I eat it I don't deprive myself. I won't eat a whole bunch of it. I asked my doc. He said this is your journey and you have to find out the things that work for you. I had RNY 278lb day of surgery 197lb as of today. God bless, jennifer
