Had my PS Consult today

Well, it went great. I was so excited to watch the videos, look at the pictures, and talk with the surgeon. She was great and I bet she spent almost an hour with me total. Our plan is to do the tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation in 6-8 weeks, then to do my upper arms and thighs in 4-6 months. The price is going to be about $9,000 out-o- pocket for the first surgery and probably less, but not by much, for the second. The first is actually a lot more, but my insurance will pay for most of the abdominal surgery. Here is a funny, though. I have been a DD cupsize for YEARS. Even when I was thin, I was a D+. Now, she said that after the lift, I would only be about a B cup. SO, much to my complete amazement, and after planning a REDUCTION for YEARS, I am actually going to get implants!!! My husband and I think this is really funny, and ironic of course. So, at first I said, "Let's do small ones and get me back to a C cup", then when DH and I were talking later, we were both like "WELL, if I am gonna get them..." Perhaps we ought to go for broke! lol! We decided to start cruising some magazines and window shopping for what looks good. How funny is that?! Anyway, although I still would like to drop about 10-15 pounds before the surgery, I feel like I am ready for this next phase. I know many of you are also reaching that point as well, and I just wanted to share the details! Wish me luck! Belle PS Good luck with your consult Friday, Janie!

Congratulations Belle, sounds like it went well for you. Funny that you posted and I was just going to ask if anyone was thinking about PS yet. It's something that has been on my mind a lot but I wanted to make sure I was at goal or near to it before taking that step. I have been checking out the PS's here in Roanoke. Looking at pics and such. My biggest problem areas are the panni and my upper abdomin, I held a lot of weight in the stomach area. My girls have definitely gone south. But I can live with the rest. I wouldn't mind getting a lower body lift. Not even sure if that's what you call it. You definitely have to keep us posted Belle!! I am just so excited for you!! Anna

Anna- when you start getting serious, you might post on your state's board here on OH for recommendations on local surgeons who specialize in body contouring after bariatric surgery. I was able to find 3 surgeon groups who specialized in this area. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable having talked to other WLS patients who have actually had surgery with the doc I chose. Just a thought!

OMG 6-8 weeks???????? I would be soooo dang excited if I were you. WOW 9K and insurance is covering a lot of it? I think my max out of pocket is lile $1500, that's what I'm hoping to pay and get surgery sometime next yr. So, what size are you going for? that is soooooo funny. I think I'm in the same boat as you regarding the breasts. They are getting smaller for sure. Thanks for the "good luck" wishes, I'll let you know how it goes!!

Dang, what insurance do you have that will cover it? I don't know that mine would cover at TT, but my max out of pocket is $2K. I wouldn't obviously want one until after PG if possible, but if I never end up PG, I want some bonus, which would be a TT. Lindy

Hey Lindy, I'm praying for you guys to get pregnant. When do you start IVF? Well, let's just say if you constantly get a rash under your fold (pani?) and you jump through the hoops they may cover it. It has to be well documented. Pics taken and you have tried meds, either prescription or OTC with no luck. So, if the rash doesn't go away or continues to come back, they may cover it. A lot of maybes huh? lol!

Like Janie said, my insurance will only cover the panice being removed because of my history of rashes. I actually had a break out right before the consult, so hopefully that will help! They will NOT cover the TT, only the panice removal, so the additional on top of that for the full TT is about $3500. The breast lift is not covered at all since it is not a reduction, so it is about $5500 out of pocket.
