January 2007 Surgiversary Challenge **Sign Up Here**
Ok, I tried on Old Navy Jeans a few weeks back and they fit me weird? They were tight in the waist, but in the front area they were baggy. I couldn't fit into a smaller size though (at least I didn't try) because the waist was already tight. Maybe I had the wrong style. I'll have to check them out again. What's the sweeheart style? I'll go to their website right now and see. Thanks Lindy!
Well when I first went to Old Navy, I tried on their two other styles, Diva and something else and I didn't like the way they looked at all and chalked it up that I just couldn't fit their jeans. A friend in my support group who is a size 10 showed me jeans that she had bought at Old Navy that were the sweetheart and I thought, they look like a better style that would fit. So I went back and spent like an hour trying on jeans. I tried the flare on as well and like them, but they didn't have any size 2's, which I needed because the 4's were too big. So, maybe you tried on the one style like I did, got frustrated and didn't try the other styles. You might want to wait to see if they have another 50% off sale. That's how I got 4 pair for only $48.
Also, try the Long and Lean at The Gap (they have short as well). The pants are called Long and Lean because they actually make you look taller and leaner. Or at least I feel they do. I haven't been back to try on 2 or 4's, but the 6's are falling off bad. I love these pants. They stretch after wearing for a while, so get a snug size, because after you wear for about 30 minutes, they will then be comfortable feeling. I bought them at the outlet, much cheaper, $34, versus the regular store $59.
Good luck...let me know what you find. I am finding that being smaller makes it very difficult for clothes shopping, I had more luck in 8/10's area of finding cute/fun clothes that fit and looked good.
Hugs,
Lindy
Great idea... I need to be or feel accountable!!
My goal is 19lbs by Jan. 10th. This is my personal goal. My doctors goal is 160lbs. Which I'm 4lbs from.
I acutally would like to be a full size 10... Right now I'm in 12's and can fit into some 10's just can't zip them.
As soon as I'm cleared to exercise (from my last surgery) I plan on exercising every single day. I will do the treadmill for 30 min. , And do the Eliptical 30 min. then do upper body workouts on the odd days and lower body on the even days. Plus do my 100 crunches every night. This is what I did before my set back 2 weeks ago.
I wish everyone GOOD luck!!
Also FYI... I'm so envious of the people that have made goal... and size 2??? OMG!!

Thanks so much for posting this MacKenzie!
I am 26 pounds from where the doctor wants me to be by January 29. That would put me at 190. That is my goal for now. I still have quite a bit to go. My doctor's final goal for me is to weigh 175 which would mean I had lost a bit more than half my highest total body weight. But that would still put me in the overweight category and I REALLY want to be in a normal weight range. In order to do that, I will need to lose at least 47 more pounds down to 169.
So my challenge goal is to lose 26 pounds by my surgiversary. I will do this by increasing my exercise to 6 times a week and increase the duration I work out at Curves. I will also vary my workouts. I will carefully record the foods I eat so I can make better choices. I will drink 120 ounces of water each day. I will continue to get my vitamins in and make sure I up my protein.
That is about it for me!

Ok, here goes.
I'd like to lose 20 lbs before my surgiversary 1/17. That puts me under my surgeon's goal enough to wear clothes for my 1 year appointment and still meet goal. I'm 184 now, want to be 164 then. That weight will also have me weighing less than my hubby. A huge victory for me! This will be a stretch for me as I'm stuck right now and usually average only 5 lbs per month. I would like to drop a minimum of one size by that time (I'm a 10/12 now). My ultimate goal is 135 - total of 49 lbs to go.
My plan:
Exercise every day for at least 30 minutes. Most days (6 days per week) I will walk/run 3 miles AND do one "The FIRM" tape - either Cardio, Ab, or Body Sculpt - that will total around 60-120 min. of exercise. In addition to that, I'd like to do Firm Super Yoga 3 x per week. That's a lot of exercise, but realistically that's the only way I'll lose 20. I will measure myself today, and weekly.
Food plan is "back to basics". Drink at least 64 oz water, protein drinks x 2 per day, protein first, limit carbs to a max of 50 per day. Snacks will be protein of some sort. I will make the effort to plan and prepare - making protein balls, cheese "sticks", whatever in order to keep from gazing and grazing in the pantry. I will allow myself chocolate of some sort once per week. No crackers. No refined carbs. That said - I will not freak out if I have a Christmas treat or glass of wine. I'll just limit them. I will take all my vitamins daily.
My attitude plan is to keep my commitments as best I can, but to NOT allow the scale to rule my life and discourage me. I will press on, doing what I know is right, trusting that the weight will come off. In order to achieve this attitude goal, I will step on the scale ONLY on Mondays (*horror!!*). This will likely be my toughest challenge!
Thanks for starting this challenge McKenzie!
Margaret
Thanks for doing this. I think you did this at the right time. I was just feeling sorry for myself and getting really depressed. I got down to 202 (basically from not being able to eat and drinking my meals-sick from fill) to now ballooning up to 207-208. I'm upset and get discouraged because Im doing everything right, for the most part, and keep gaining every day I get on the scale. How could I have eaten protein shake, tuna, cheese stick, fruit, and turkey plus workout for an hour and gain 2 pounds in one day? Whatever, I need to get re-motivated that despite the gain, I will continue to do the right thing.
My goal is to be at 190 by my Surgiversary (1/29/08) which will put me at a 100 pound loss and into onederland.
I am already pretty active, I workout at the gym at work 4-5 days and one day during the weekend at home, plus do 2-3 days of weight training.
*I will up it, since maybe my body is used to that, and start running in the mornings 3 times a week for maybe 20 minutes.
*I also commit to make good decisions while vacationing in Texas over the Christmas and New Year Holidays. Im going to prepare for it ahead of time and allow myself the baked treats and Tamales my mom makes, but not excessively.
*I am not going to be so hard on myself if the scale doesn't agree.
*I am going to start back with taking my multivitamin (I know, I haven't in forever)
*I am going to be almost ready to move into the 14s.
*I am going to be in onderland
*I am not going to have cereal for dinner for 8 weeks
*I will limit my sweets to only birthday, christmas day, anniversary, and new years.
*I am going to hopefully have a job lined up in Texas
*I will continue being happy
Happy success to all!
