Well its ME... Stacey... First off let me say THANK YOU to my wonderful friend Jill (aka jillybean) for keeping you guys informed. Here's the deal... Last friday the 9th... I woke up with severe back ache and feeling bloated. Went to the doctor they thought I had kidney infection, actually wanted to put me in the hospital and I said Nah.. I'll just go home and rest. Saturday morning at 130am I was in the emergency room with EXTREME pain... Never ever experience this before.. I couldnt get confortable, my respirs were fast, felt like my stomach and back was going to explode. They did a CT scan, gave me lots of pain meds... and get this... SENT ME HOME! On pain medicine, but she thought maybe I had kidney stones that were needed to be passed.. DUMB ER DOCTOR! I think I interrupted her nap! SO... I tuffed it out all weekend, moaning and groaning laying on the couch... wasnt going to go back to ER cause I knew the same ER doctor was there. Monday morning went back to my doctor... He admitted me. Monday... they did another CT scan, ultrasound, exrays.... Found a Stone in my Common Bile duct!! I'm thinking... UMMM I dont have a gallbladder???? Well it was 13mm big and ready to obstuct my bile duct so it had to come out. I wasnt able to have a ERCP due to having a RNY (which no one tells you that) So I had to be open surgery. Wednesday morning at 10am I had surgery. Got home this morning... still in ALOT of discomfort.. Worse surgery Ive ever had and this was my 9th!! (Ive had 3 c-sections, gallbladder surgery 1994 I might add, then I had a bile leak from that had another one, then I had lap arp and I had endometriosis and then I had to have a total hysterectomy, then I had my RNY and now this!!) So how does a person get a common bile duct stone... I asked if this was a complication of RNY, he said NO, not really. BUT...........A person that has lost ALOT of weight fast can get them... most people dont even know they have them, they have like bad gas pains and they pass, mine for some reason wanted to stay in me and form one big one!! So there's my story girls... I cant sit no longer... I need to get back to my heating pad and pain pills... Thanks everyone for your concern... I pray no one else deals with this. Oh I forgot this... When I weighed friday morning I weighed 166lbs... When I left the hospital I weighed a WHOPPING 184lbs... Today 181lbs... WOW!!! YUCKY!!!! Stacey

Stacey - man oh man, you've been through a lot. I'm glad you're home and hopefully on the mend. How scary it must have been for you. I have heard that kidney stones are worse than being in labor. I know it put my dh on the floor almost in tears screaming in pain. Yeah, the weight gain is common in the hospital I hear. It will come off quickly, it's jus****er. Focus on recovering. I can't believe you had to be opened up, so because of the RNY we can never have LAP surgery? I'm praying for you. ((((hugs))))))

Hello! Yes on the mend, moving like a granny... It wasnt a kidney stone.. It was like a gall stone stuck in my bile duct. We can have Laproscopy surgery... CANT have ERCP's.. which is where they go in a blast your stones away. Mine was to big that's why I had to be open. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers... Recovery way different than lap rny. Stacey

Stacey- Glad you're okay...despite the pain. I've had my gall bladder out too and never knew you could still get a gallstone- that's what you had right? One that was blocking the bile duct? WOW- hang in there... Holly

Stacey, Glad you're home and recovering. The surgery weight will drop off within a week or two. Don't sweat it! I didn't absorb my pain meds well after my surgery last month - if yours don't seem to be covering your pain well enough try cutting them into fourths. That worked well for me. I'm praying for you! Oh boy, I am so sorry you had to go thru this, but thank you so much for sharing your story. I have been having a pain in my side that acts like a severe gas pain, I have been ignoring it, but after your story I am going to check with my doc. I hope you have a super speedy recovery. Crystal
