snacking too much

Hi, I haven't posted for a long time, but I need some support. I'm 5 lbs away from my goal of 135lbs. However I started snacking again. I think its from boredom. I've been off for 3 days and today I'm stuck at home. So far I've had a special k bar, 2 slices of cheese, a frozen burrito, some bbq chips and my stomach is not to happy. I need to get back on track, help.

Your snacking isn't nearly as out of control as mine can get- but when I do get that way- the only thing that helps me is to up my fluids, up my protein and up my exercise. I also tell myself that if I do snack on something that I don't have to "finish" it- that saves me a few calories... good-luck- Holly

Yes I get that urge too, mostly at night. I don't think your snacking was that bad either. I allow myself a snack every now and then, I just don't eat as much (not nearly!) as I used to before WLS. Last Saturday we were at a bday party and I had a small piece of cake (like 2-3 bites) and a less than a scoop of ice cream. I felt so guilty, but then I got to thinking why should I feel guilty? It's not like I'm going to gain weight just from eating that every once in awhile. And nope I didn't gain any weight. But man the guilt was bad, until I rationalized with myself. lol! My doctor never told me I couldn't have cake and ice cream again! That was my first time though and it'll be awhile until I do it again. Oh, I dread the holiday's with all of the baked goods. Going to have to use major self control!!! I've also eaten a few chips here and there and haven't gained. So, I think it's all in moderation. Don't beat yourself up. Like Holly said, if you have a day where you think you ate more than normal, up your water and exercise. Congrats on being so close to goal. THat's awesome!

Hey April! I dont have any thing different to say than the first two posters but I wanted to let you know that i agree with them both and to also let you know that you are not alone. I am going thru that phase big time right now and this morning I decided to up my protein intake! Dont be to hard on yourself. Recognizing that this is not your normal behavior is the first step to correcting it. In the past, would you have even tried to fix your snacking after just one day that you consider to be bad? I would not have. So you are ahead already! Congrats on being so close to goal!! And keep up the good work.

Yep...it must be normal for this time frame cause it seems like alot of us are going through it. Ive been wanting to munch lately too. Im never satisfied. Its esp. bad at night. I ty to munch on good for you stuff like raw vegies and SF jello. (not together..lol) Whats wierd to me tho is that sometimes I can eat alot and other times i can hardly eat a bite. Like tonight I made homemade meatballs and ate 1 1/2 and felt that pressure. Couldnt eat another bite. A little while later I was hungry so I ate a protein bar. As soon as I ate the last bite my tummy started gurgling and felt wierd. I guess as we near a year out lots of tings will be differant. Boy this is a learning experience!! Mary

Thanks so much. I am really going to try to do better. The same day I posted this I found out my limit. I tried to eat dinner and it did not stay down. I was miserable. I guess it was just a bad day.
