This is SO cool.. Ive never been on this forum before... Your all like me!! I had my Lap RNY on Jan. 10th. Feeling GREAT... no complications. Today I pretty much live life normally. Im down from 292lbs to 185lbs. From 24 to a 14-16... and down from 3x to a L-Xl shirts. But would like to get a idea on how your all eating? I kinda try and stay away from sugars over 10gm and I stay away from breads, pasta and rice. Once in a while, but usually I cant eat more than a couple bites of it. I pretty much think protein first, then veggies, then carbs if I have room. How about you? Stacey

Hey Stacey!! Hope to see you around more often now that you have found us!! I might be little biased..but I think this is the best group ever!! I am like you, I try not to eat bad carbs (like rice, pasta, bread and potatoes) and try to watch my sugar intake..I will do up to 15 grams at the most but usually it is less than 10 like you. I eat lots of protein (I think I am going to grow feathers soon) and eat lots of beans and veggies. I don't get in a lot of fruit though...its hard to work that in cause I am usually full by the time I eat my protien and veggies. I did have carbs during my birthday weekend (fried rice from my favorite resturant) YUMMY But I was nto able to eat much of it and was a little sad! I have lost about 106 pounds since surgery. HW 327 CW 216 and I was a size 26/28 and currently wear 18/20 bottoms, my bday dress was a size 12!! Wowsers and L tops. This has been an amazing journey and I don't now what I would do with out my January family!! Steph

Glad you found us Stacey. I am down from 367 to 238 after 1/29/07 surgery. I eat pretty much like you do. I couldn't eat meat that first 5 months and am still trying to catch up on my protein so I drink liquid protein in my hot decaf tea in the morning and in my water. I also add protein shake liquid to my decaf coffee. I try to keep my sugars 8 mg or lower. I avoid all breads, carbs and rice. I do eat some wheat crackers with my cheese. I pretty much stick completely with protein. I eat some fruit but very little. Since my protein was so low at my 6 month checkup the doc has told me to stick with protein. I tend to fix lean beef and am excited that I can tolerate chicken. I do like shrimp and fish. I am also just this week able to tolerate ground beef patties. So that is making it a bit easier to get my protein in. Katy B

I find everyday is different for me. One day I can eat something and the next day I cant and it will be the VERY same thing! Sometimes that gets frustrating to me. Thank you for replying... Your doing awesome!! Stacey

Hi Stacey, and Welcome!! I had Lap RNY on 1.30 and have had no complications so far!! I feel like my old self...almost...20 more pounds should do it! I am down a bit over 80 pounds now...in a L/12 shirt and a 10 pant. As for food....I eat pretty much as you described. Protein first, then veggies, then fruit, maybe a bite or two of carbs...but not usually. I still haven't found the courage to eat a piece of bread yet! I still start the day with a Matrix Cookies & Creme shake made with skim milk to make sure that I get a jump on my protein for the day...after that it's all downhill. I try to stick at about 800-900 calories still...can't seem to mentally get past that number...but I am beginning to wonder if that number is too low now. Sugars...I keep well under 10g per serving, although I have entertained the thought of going on a sugar binge just too see if I still dump since it has been so long...kinda crazy, huh?? Other than that...I take all of my vitamins and supplements like a good girl . I exercise regularly...2 1/2 miles on the treadmill every other day, lights weights on the opposite days, and I try to get in push ups (no sits ups due to a hernia ), exercise ball, Pilates, Yoga, extra walking outside, lots of heavy yard work...these sorts of things throughout the week to give extra benifit in keeping me active. I just recently began wearing a pedometer...10,000 steps per day is the goal. Anyway...that about says it all for me! Hope to see you around here more often. Monday mornings Stephanie hosts the "Monday Morning Weigh-Ins" post, so you might want to check that out, too. That seems to be the time to catch up with everyone. ~Suz

Hey Suz...what level do you set the treadmill and about how long will it take for you to do 2.5 miles?? I have been resisting the treadmill and I have finally started to use it and want to see what others are doing. Everyone except Janie (Just kidding) I know she runs on it for 30 minutes and I dont even think I want to do that!! lol Thanks

Hey Steph.... I usually set the treadmill for 3.5 mph for the majority of my walk. A couple of times (if I can stand it that many!) I move up to about 5 mph and try to run for 1/4 or 1/8 of a mile sprint. Then...right back down to 3.5! It takes me about 38-40 minutes total if I include the time for warm up walking. It averages about 300 calories burned...I have been aiming for that number lately rather than time or distance...but never has it taken me more than 40 minutes start to finish. Running continuously for 30 minutes...yeah right!! I am so not a runner! lol. I'm lucky I have stuck with walking/sprinting this many weeks... ~Suz
