Update- Obstruction
Sorry to hear you're having such a bad time and big bummer your endoscpy wasn't able to help out with the situation.
I went back and read your original post (I just found this forum the other day) because I'm having similiar problems. I get this really bad cramping a few different times during the day. My guess is that it's not an obstruction because I'm able to have a BM - am I correct in thinking that?
I won't go into a bunch of detail on this post because I was getting ready to start a new thread about my issues so that maybe anyone else might have some ideas of what is going on.
Hope things get better for you!
HUGS!

Nope! Things were passing fine for me too and still are in fact. Don't let that stop you from getting checked out. The nurse in the ER was really clear that too many people pass these off as nothing and end up very ill which is why I posted on here. PLEASE go get it checked out. I would call your surgeon describe your pain and let him or his nurse tell you how to handle. I kept trying Gas-X thinking it was just gas, but Gas X was not helping so 3 days later I called my surgeon and he told me to get to the ER. CT scan revealed the obstruction. Please call your surgeon. Apparently scar tissue, food, ulcers, almost anything can block or partially your small bowel where it is connected to your pouch and according to a study I found on the internet about 10% of lap RNY patients end up with an obstruction at some point after surgery.

Wow! Would you believe I've been dealing with this for months????!!!! I'm not sure exactly when it started but I've thought on & off that I was lactose intolerant and it was gas pains. It's gotten somewhat better since I no longer ingest much dairy and my PCP also put me on Prevacid but it still lingers and I should invest in GasX stock!! It happens mostly in the middle of the night out of the blue and every once in awhile during the day. I went back to my PCP and he thinks that my stoma is too small, which in turn makes it so the food isn't pushed through the pouch fast enough so it sits there for too long and when it finally does go through it causes the pain. I'm supposed to go see my surgeon to have them go down with a scope and if that's the case, then stretch my stoma.
I called my surgeon Monday and they wanted me to come in Tuesday but with this being my last week at this job I really couldn't do that and asked if I could come in Thursday or Friday. But my surgeon is out of the office. So I had decided that I have an appointment on 8/7 so I'll just wait until then - I've dealt with it this long, what another week?
I think I'll call my PCP to tell him what you've told me and see what he thinks. He has alot of experience with bypass patients - apparently MO people run rampant in our town. Seriously - his wife has had the surgery so between her and all the referrals he's passed onto my surgeon he's seen alot of RNY patients.
Anyway, thanks so much for the advice! You're an angel!!
