Anybody know if we can take anti-inflammatories? I will check with my surgeon in Columbia- but just wanted to know if anybody knew anything sooner. I have a herniated disk in my back and have been taking some major drugs. I'm not gaining so that's good...it's just making me nervous cuz I can't exercise. Thanks- Holly

To my knowledge, NO! Anti-iinflamatories chew up our tiny pouches, leading to ulcers. I'd certainly check with your surgeon and take them only under very close supervision. I wish they made anti-inflamatories using a skin patch! Take care, Margaret

I agree....I have arthritis and my surgeon took my prescription IB profin away. They cause ulcers. I can only have the tylanol. Definitely ask your surgeon. Anna

I was given anti inflammatories by my surgeon for my small bowel obstruction and partially attribute my recovery to the Anti inflammatories, Reglen (likely mispelled), and Protonix they gave me in the hospital.

Thanks guys- I will let you know what my surgeon says- but I'm guessing it's a big no- at least for the one they prescribed for me... THanks!!! Holly

By the way Holly...spoke with my surgeon's office yesterday and everyone is right, no on the anti-inflamatories...they are fine by IV, but not by mouth. Could cause ulcers or something to that effect.
