Please tell me that weight loss estimator is wrong!!
I just read the post "im so frustrated" and after reading the replies about the estimator on OH I went to see how I was doing. I put in my starting weight of 367 and it said by now I should be at 216!! Im at 260!!! Im 44lbs behind!! Now im afraid I really am eating too much (which Ive posted about before) and I'll never get to goal. I sooo depressed after reading that.

Hey Mary: Don't be discouraged...I am also behind by that estimator. I don't have any scientific evidence or any thing good to go by but I do know that when we look at the percentage that we have lost, we have lost a whole lot of weight! Don't get bogged down by the numbers and statics for the "average" patient. Go with how you feel and the progress you see. I just used the calculator and it says I too should be at 216 by now too and I started at 327...but I am at 232.8. That does not sound too correct to me, that we both should be at the same weight. I think it is look at height more than anything..how tall are you? I am 5'6. Hope this helps.
Steph
Thanks Steph..Im 5'4 btw. I guess I tend to over obsess about things. Ive lost 110lbs as of my weigh in this morning and that is alot of weight. Im thrilled with it but I guess we always want a little more, lol. OH well...I'll get there! Sooner or later, but keepin my fingers crosed for sooner!!

Mary - I have to agree with Stephanie, try not to get discouraged. I really think that all the weight loss estimator does it take a look at how much excess weight you have to loose and then spread it over 18 months on sliding scale. But you have done AMAZING. 100 plus pounds is great in 6 months. Keep using your tool and be VERY proud of your success. *hugs*
Mary,
That estimator is BAD, BAD, BAD.
You are doing fantastic! Listen, I've also lost less (comparatively) than my surgery sisters but heck, I'm still down 71 lbs in 5 1/2 months which is truly amazing by any standards.
As long as the scale keeps going down and our clothes keep getting bigger and bigger, then we know we are doing just fine.
I suggest you try on a pair of pants that you wore before your surgery! They would probably fall right to the floor!
That should make you feel good.
Keep up the great work and do not look at that Estimator.
Best,
Beth
