Ever since surgery ive worried that Im able to eat too much. I do measure and stop myself at no maore than a cup of food, usually, and I eat healthy, and Ive lost 107 lbs. But Im still concerned at the quantity Im able to eat. I have only felt "full" on two occasions when I knew Id overdone it...but usually I quit eating because I know I should and not because Im full. Today tho Ive wanted to eat and eat. Nothing seems to satisfy me. Here is what I ate today. Could you eat this much?? Shouldnt I have been stuffed? I read the daily ':what did you eat" post on the main board and always feel like I eat more than everybody else. B. 1/2 ham and cheese sandwich on double fiber wheat bread. ( ham, cheese, less than a T of mayo) snack: 1 peanut butter protein ball L. 1/2 an english muffin (whole wheat) with about a Tbs of sauce, 1 mushroom, sliced a little mozz. cheese (my mini pizza) snack: 2 baby carrots with less than a tsp of peanut butter D. Steak (about 4oz.) 1/4 c. sauteed mushrooms and onions 2 T mashed potatos 3 asperagus stalks about 3 hours after dinner I had about 1/2 to 3/4 of a lean cuisine (3 cheese stuffed rigatoni) it was 10oz in total so I ate about 5-6 oz of it and could of ate it all but didnt. Im freakin out. Im so scared Im gonna fail...or gain back everything Ive lost. I really try to watch what I eat but any less than this and Im starving. HELP!! Mary

Mary- I eat WAY more than you do!!! But I also worry about the amount I eat, how often I eat and what I eat. I too am afraid of gaining weight back- do you see a nutrionist? I wish I could be more help to you- the only thing I can offer is that I eat more than you and that I have the same fears as you. I will be anxious to see what others have to say... Holly

Thanks Holly, That makes me feel better. I know I dont eat even 1/2 of what I used to eat, but when you read posts from people that are years out and they eat 2oz of meat and 1 tablespoon of vegies, or only eat once and drink protein drinks all day...it makes ya wonder. I ahd my surgery done in mexico, so I dont have a nut. I sure wish I did. It would make things a bit easier. Thanks again!! Mary

Mary- I had my surgery in Columbia- so I totally understand- that's why this board has become so vitally important to me!!! Holly

Hi Mary... My humble advice to you would be to not worry so much about how much you "seem" to be eating, but how much it actually adds up to over the course of the day. Do you log your food intake on a daily basis on a site like myfitnesspal.com or fitday.com? It really helps me to keep close tabs on what and how much I actually eat. I prefer myfitnesspal, but any site like these will help you to have an honest view of how many calories and protein grams you take in each day. As for what you listed...it doesn't seem awful to me. And, I don't feel full very often, either. Only if I eat something very dense, like nuts...cashews get to me after just a couple. Try more dense foods and less breads and see if that helps curb your hunger a bit. For me, with most foods, I finish when my measured portion is done, or I get bored with eating...which ever comes first. Also...you have lost 107 pounds!!! You are doing just fine!!! I know that it is almost impossible not to compare ourselves with others. That said...how is your loss each week? It is obviously adding up! What an amazing amount of weight to lose in such a short period of time. I hope some of this may help you. ~Suz

Thanks Suz! Actually, Ive tried to use fitday and I must be completely stupid, but I cant figure it out. Especially if I eat something like a casserole or salad, I dont know how to break each thing up and list it or how much of it Im actally getting in a one cup serving. Do u know what I mean? My weight loss is wierd. One week 6 lbs. the next week one pound. I still need to lose about 120 more ponds so I hope it doesnt stop. Mary

I know what you mean about breaking down the content of a salad or casserole. I literally write down the ingredients and list them by amount individually. Sometimes you just have to guesstimate. I think that is why I tend to eat the same things all the time...I already have the info for what I usually eat saved in my list on fitnesspal. So, I can just go down the list and click on what I want to add to each meal...the quantities and values are already there. It does take a bit of work at first, but it gets faster as time goes on. Give myfitnesspal at try and see if you like that program any better. ~Suz

Mary - first off, congrats on your weight loss. That's AWESOME! I read the "what did you eat threads" and usually say "whatever". or "you're lying". hehehehehehe! I'm sure they not, but it helps to make me feel better. Some days I can eat a lot. some days I don't feel like eating much. I don't think you ate too much though hon. Seriously, you may want to cut out some of the carbs and up your protien (not sure how many grams you got in?), I know when I don't eat bread it helps with the weight loss. But I don't think the amount of food you ate was too much. Did you track it on fit day? I try to stay under 1000 calories. Put that in fitday.com and see how many calories it is. I understand about the worrying though. I constantly worry. When I gained that 3 lbs I was a worry wart and probably a PITA (pain in the arse) to be around. Hang in there hon!

Thanks Janie, I often wonder if everyone is being completly honest as well!! I have tried to track it on fitday, but I must be brain dead because I can not figure it out! I do try to do mostly protein, but I do allow myself one slice of this bread I found at Walmart. Its by NaturesOwn and its double fiber, only 40 cal. a slice, 5 net carbs and 5 grams of protein. The lean cuisines are actually higher in carbs than I would have thought tho. On the rare occasion I eat pasta or rice I use the barilla plus protein pasta or brown rice. UGH! I cant see myself givin those up too! But if this weight loss stops Im sure gonna..LOL! I know what u mean about being a pita! (LOVE THAT TERM!!) I only weigh once a 3eek and when Id lost 99lbs on my weigh ion day I couldnt wait to lose that 1 lb. sooo...I weighed again 2 days later and had gained 3lbs!! I cried! A couple of weeks later tho I lost 6lbs! Go figure. Its crazy isnt it?? Mary
