A different way to view your "slow weight loss"
So I was thinking about M Hollie's Confessions post and I remembered reading a post on the men's forum where this guy talked about measuring your loss. Have any of you ever thougt about calculating the percentage of weight you have lost since surgery??? You know, kind of how they do on the biggest loser or celebrity fit club? (Yes, in addition to being addicted to the scale again..I am also addicted to reality tv!
So I hope you ladies don't mind but I grab of few of your stats from the weigh in...if it is offensive..please forgive me....but here goes
Now I am using the surgery weight listed and the current weight and the difference between them to get the %'s.
MY SW was 322, CW is 240.2 difference is 81.2 and that would make my weight loss percentage 25.2%. So I have lost 25.2% of my total body weight since my surgery.
Roxanne W stats-
SW 211
CW 151
DIff 60 lbs
% lost 39.7
Martha Grieg
SW 295
CW 219
% Lost 25.8
Janie
SW 225
CW 158
% Lost 29.8
Do you see where I am going with this?? While we have all lost different amounts of weight....our percentagesa re about the same. My belief is that our bodies know what is a healthy amount to loss and where we are going to stop. But even though some have lost more than others....check out the percentages...EX...compare me and Roxanne....I have lost more pounds..but her percentage of weight lost is higher. The more we have to lose, the longer we have to get to our goal and the further away from our goal, the more we lose. And the closer you get to goal..the slower your weight loss will be.. Is it just me or does this make sense???
And this is meant to be an encourgement to all us..not a negative post...hope this helps!!
Stephanie,
Wow I never looked at it that way. Thanks for opening my eyes. I need to watch more TV. I asked my Dr. why I lost slower than others he told me that when a person has more to lose it will come off quicker. My response was UGGG I want it off fast.
"But "Merrily I Stroll Along".
Take Care, Roxanne
Hi Stephanie -
Ya know your right it's all about perspective. 25% in 6 months is alright. It's that instant gratification that gets in the way. It took me 40 years to get to 311 lbs. and now I want to lose 150 in 6 months. what am I thinking??
That's what I love about this bunch - we all are so supportive of each other and keep rooting everyone all.
Thanks again-
Marta
