Confessions of a slow loser....
Hi Margaret,
I have to put in my 2 cents worth. I too am discouraged that I haven't lost as much as most. I have lost 61 since my surgery and always add what I lost before (21)
because I think it sounds better. But my Dr. said everyone will lose different. I am in hopes that losing slower will be less skin... but not my case .
I guess we all want it off yesterday. But we are doing good and trying very hard. I was told that I was lucky because I took the easy way out. Well It's not true. We have made a lot of sacrifices to do this. I met with my NUT last week and she told me I was eating too much protein. Somedays I would do 100 g's.
She told me to do 45-60. I still think that is too low. But I am trying it this week to see if it does work. When I hit 169 it took me 6 weeks to hit 159. I hit 159 on June 4 and today hit 150 so 9 pounds in a little over 3 weeks. It is so strange. I will probably be stuck here now for another 2 weeks. I so look forward to Monday Morning Weigh Ins with Stephanie and all the gang. It helps me get through my week and know that there are others who care and are know what we are going through.
Your doing fine. Think how far you have come. Good Luck.
Hugs, Roxanne
DO YOU KNOW HOW GOOD YOU JUST MADE ME FEEL?!? I had surgery the same day as you and we've lost just about the same. I am in the same exact losing pattern as you and I always feel ashamed or discouraged when people ask me my weightloss because I thought I should be losing so much faster. I know you posted because you were frustrated with the slow loss but understand that you helped me feel so much better. Just hang in there- we can both do it! Hey we are still losing right? Thats all that counts! Keep up the good work. =)
I wanted to thank you for your post. I too am a slow loser. My highest weight was 283, day of surgery was 275. Today, I'm at 214. That's just 61 pounds since surgery. I generally lose 7-10 pounds a month now. It really gets frustrating with the stalls. The week before and the week during my cycle, I'm lucky if I lose 1 pound. I found that trying to get a bit more calories (around 900-1000) helps keep my body out of starvation mode. I was hoping that losing slower would save me from the thinning hair, but no such luck. That's getting bad at this point, though my hair is thick so it's not noticeable except for the loose hairs constantly on my shoulders and back. I guess we all just need to hang in there.
