Converting grams to calories

I thought I'd post this in case anyone is interested. The calories in food come from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. A gram of carbohydrate contains 4 calories. A gram of protein also contains 4 calories. A gram of fat, though, contains 9 calories -- more than twice the amount of the other two. So, if I were to follow my Nut's guidelines, and I do try, this is how it would break down: 500 calories from carbs (125g), 260 calories from fat (28g), and 240 calories from protein (60g), total of 1000 calories a day. In reality, my day goes more like this: 200-300 calories from carbs (50-75), 200-300 calories from fat (22-33g) and 200-300 calories from protein (50-75g), total of 600-900 calories a day...I've only made it to 900 calories once in the past 2 months, I average around 750 a day and I don't think that is enough. I do track everything on fitday.com and I see where I need to increase and decrease...I really need to increase the veggies to get more good carbs, maybe then my weight loss will pick up again. Anyone have favorite veggie dishes they could share? Just thought I'd share in case anyone else is struggling to figure all this out. Take care, Denise
