you are? why? I feel like I have been more hungry than usual. I hate it. I don't know if it's because it's that time of the month or not of the stress of the kids ( you have the triplets or twins I forget??) but I have the munchies more than usual. I am not caving in. but it's hard. I'm trying to drink drink, drink when I want to munch!!

My appetite returned a few weeks ago and I have really been struggling. I've been eating a lot of things I shouldn't and too much of everything. I have to turn this around- PROTEIN first- then I need to get in my liquids and exercise- UGH- I think I need to totally refocus!!! No wonder I spent 6 weeks in the 160's!!! I thought maybe I was getting close to goal- but according to Fitday I am eating WAY too many calories. I have another 15 pounds to go to be near goal... Holly

My Nut says 1000 calories, with 50% (500) coming from carbs, 30% fat (10% or less saturated), and 20% protein. I track everything on fitday.com. I never reach 1000 calories, I average 700-800 calories a day. I never reach 50% carbs, usually around 30-35%. BUT, because I eat so little my fat is usually over 30%, hardly ever over 40%, but my saturated fat is usually at or below 10%. I don't think my body works well with my Nut's guidelines. I've been doing the 20% protein (60g), and my weight loss has slowed. I'm going to email her about it, but I'm upping my protein on my own. I've also been trying to eat more turkey lately instead of beef, lower in fat. Also, I agree with Stephanie. I will lose more if I eat more because apparently my body thinks its starving all the time, but some days I just don't want to eat, ya know? Its a struggle because my Nut doesn't want me snacking, just 3 meals a day. I can't eat enough at one sitting to get everything in. I'm going to ask her about that too. Have I confused you yet? I think if you're losing steadily and you feel good and you feel like you're doing the right thing, then keep it up. Take care, Denise

I guess I'm a little confused. 50% coming from carbs. So how many carbs does that work out to a day? I've seen people talk about that before and that always confuses me. sorry!!!!! But seems like under 1000 is the goal for us ! Thanks!!!!!!!

see I must be stupid but when I read that I assume that you mean 20 % protein of a 1000 calorie diet is 200 grams of protein and 50 % of a 1000 calorie diet is 500 grams of carbs and we know that's not the case! Please can someone explain this to me. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brain fart here. lol!

Sorry, I should have explained it better. This is the email my Nut sent to me regarding how many calories I should be getting and where I should be getting them from: Your calorie intake should be about 1000 calories a day at this point in time. With 500 calories from carbs - milk, fruit, starches. ( approx / 125 grams) Whole grains: whole wheat pasta and bread, bran, rye, corn meal, and brown rice are examples of whole grains = good carbs. Fruits and vegetables are also good carbs. White foods typically are the "bad" ones. Corn and sweet potatoes are good carbs...HOWEVER you should not eat these because they contain fibers that are indigestible and may block your pouch. Your protein supplements will contain carbs if they are made with milk. White potatoes are ok if they baked, boiled, or broiled - no skin. Nuts you will have to eat w/ caution. They are high in fat ( good fat) but high in fat nonetheless. Again, watch your portions. You chould not be consuming more than 1/2 - 1 cup total at meal times. No more than 30% fat / 10% Saturated fat and 20-25% Protein. So, to clarify, 50% of 1000 calories would be 500 calories, not grams...only 100-125g of carbs, 20% would be 200 calories from protein, and 30% would be 300 calories from fat. Does that make more sense? She is speaking in terms of calories, not grams. There is a website somewhere, I'll have to find it again, that tells you how many grams of something are in a certain amount of calories...for example, how many grams of protein would equal 200 calories. If I can find it, I'll post it for you. Hope this helps and I didn't confuse you even more! Take care, Denise

Hi Janie- I know I am coming in late on this since I have been off-line for a few days, but I eat about 1000-1200 calories a day. I actually stay right around 1000, which is my goal, but when I drink my protein bullet, that always puts me over! rrrg... But I figure better that than not get in the protein. Of course, don't put too much stock in what I am saying since I did not lose last week! I am about 72 down since surgery and 100 in the last year. I also went through a period about 3 weeks ago where I wanted to eat, eat and eat some more! It scared the heck out of me, but it passed. Good luck! It sounds like you are right on target! Belle

Belle, An eat and eat period...sounds just like me a few weeks ago...to the point I was afraid my pouch had stretched...I upped my water, and started eating more dense protein and it passed...thank God. I guess we go through those times? I am glad you mentioned it....I was afraid it was me... Lura
