How many calories are you getting in?

I know we've talked about this before, but I dont' remember. About how many calories are you guys getting in per day? I try to stick to under 1000 and do pretty well most days. I've seen several posts where people who are 4-6 months out who only had 500-600 calories per day. That seems awfully low to me and I don't think I could do that and would starve and be miserable. This has been bugging me lately and now I feel like I'm overeating. What do you guys think? I also asked my NUT and she said 1000 calories is where I should be at. Just wondering what you guys think? Thanks! I don't know, if it's that time of month or what, but I find myself worrying about everything lately. UGH!!

Hey Janie, I still try to stick to 800 calories a day. But, I don't really know if that is an appropriate level at this point. I'll have to check at my 6 month check up in July. The only time I have managed to go over is the first few times that I actually got my butt on the treadmill for a reasonable distance. I...was...hungry! Even then I didn't go over 1000. I think that for most of us, somewhere between 800-1000 is where we should aim for. Definately no lower, though!! I do notice that if I don't keep myself on an eating schedule, it becomes really easy to not eat. So, perhaps that is how these people are able to keep to such a low intake. Doesn't seem healthy to me, either. ~Suz

I average around 700 a day. My NUT says to try to stay between 600-800. I use fitday.com to track everything it is very helpful.

really? wow! Would you mind telling me what your diet looks like? I'm about 900-1000 a day and I think I would be hungry at 700 a day. I know I'm losing and doing good, but if I dropped to 700 I would do better!!!!! thanks!!

I dont think you should try and drop your caloric intake Janie....maybe you can change up what type of calories you are getting. Or as Anna B stated a long time ago..she noticed she lost more when she increased her food amounts because her body thought it was starving. That has also been more experience. I think I lose more now that I am getting in more calories. I think that getting lower numbers will put you into starvation and when your body thinks it is starving...it holds on to the weight....that is my un medically educated opinion. keep us posted on how things work out for you.

No problem. I tend to eat the same foods a lot & only occassionally add in something new. Typically: Breakfast: 1 scoop Vanilla Unjury 1 c skim milk 1/4 c frozen banana 1/4 c frozen strawberry Lunch: 1/2 c turkey chilli w/ beans 1/3 c 2% or FF cheddar cheese 1/4 c grean beans (my favorite these days!) Dinner: 1/2 c precooked chicken (like for salads by tyson I think) 1/4 c 2% or FF cheddar Cheese 1/4 c sour cream (lite) salsa 1/4 c green beans Snack... on occassion 1/2 c SF/FF pudding with a little SF Cool whip Fit day average for past month: 719 calories per day (per nut 600-800) 74 g protein (per nut greater than 60) 61 g carbs (per nut less than 80 per day) 22 g fat (forgot nuts number on this but I was WAY under) Hope this helps

thanks for the detailed info. I realize I'm not eating too much, just maybe not enough protein. I've discovered kashi cereal and I've been eating 1/2 cup of that in the morning and love that. Thanks again!!!

Hey Janie: I just do a report using fitday for my month average and it came back to 835 calories a day. If ppl this far out are only getting in 500 to 600 calories a day...they are probably in starvation mode..we are probably not far from starvation too!! My surgeon suggests 1000 calories a day too for this stage. I don't think you are over eating at all. Remember when we used to eat a 1000 calories in a meal??? So we have come a long way with the help of our new tools!
