Hi there everyone!
My name is Melanie. I am married with 4 kiddos, and I am 37 yrs old . I had my surgery on 1/22/07. I have lost 72 lbs so far. I still have a ways to go but I am excited. Hubby has never seen me at this size.We started dating when I was heavier. So he is very proud of me. My son (5yrs) has been saying that I am beautiful, even before I lost the weight.Aren't kids precious?? ( Some young lady is going to get quite the catch with him someday! I'm training him right!! )
I am so glad to be able to share my experiences with people who have been through the same issues. I look forward to getting chatting with you all more.
Hi Melanie,
Welcome.. I noticed you and Janie share the same surgery date. How fun! This board is a great group of people.
Make sure you join us on Monday Mornings for our weekly weigh-ins. Your children sound like a lot of fun. Mine are all grown and now I get to enjoy our little grandchildren. Congrats on your weight loss. I know you must feel good about yourself. Have a nice weekend.

Hiyas Melanie, and welcome. I am 42 have a 6 yr old boy and had my surgery 1/24/07. Ive lost 79lbs since my journey began. So 59lbs since surgery. I'm a slow loser for some reason. At first they told me I am not getting enough calories. I think I still am not. Oh well. Slow is okay as long as I keep losing.
Anna
Hi Anna,
59 lbs is not bad at all! Thats like carrying your child strapped to your body! LOL!!
But I do believe that if you don't eat enough protein, you won't lose weight like they want you to. So I pack baggies of nuts and sometimes beef jerky to take to work with me. I am not sure if beef jerky has too much sodium to be healthy but it seems to help me get my protein.I am not a big fan of protein drinks.
I also don't have much time to do my workouts now that I work 6 days a week. So, my weight loss has slowed down a bit.
