Protein in Urine?
So, I have to confess that I canceled my 3 month post-op because I had a scheduling conflict that day, and I never rescheduled. I am just going to wait for my 6 month.
So, I had my yearly physical today and there was protein in my urine. I asked her if this could be from the RNY and she said that would explain the ketones, but not the protein. Anyone else have this come up in the post-op labs? I am hoping it is normal, and she just did not know?
Thanks,
Belle
PS On the positive, everything else was within normal ranges, even my protein and B12. Yeah! Oh, and my bad cholesterol is now really low!
Hey Belle:
I recently had labs done at my PCP and I want to say there was some protein in my urine..but I am not 100% sure. I will double check tomorrow when I go back to the doctor and see what they say. ANd congrats on all your other levels being good, especially the cholesterol!! Woohoo!! My protein was a bit low when I had my labs drawn.
I remember you saying your protein was a little low. Hopefully that has corrected itself by now. I was relieved about that especially since I don't do the supplements anymore.
I would appreciate you letting me know what your PCP says. I asked her what it meant and she said that my kidney function looked great.... ? That did not really answer my question, although that is good I guess? She just said to come back in 2 weeks for a recheck.
Thanks,
Belle
Hey Belle:
Sorry for the delayed response but my appointment was actually yesterday and not Wednesday. My PCP said that I did not have protein in my urine but I did ask about it. And I guess the reason your PCP said your kidney function looks great is because my PCP said something about protein in your urine could indicated kidney failure or malfunction. Thankfully your PCP has reassured your that it is not your kidney function and hopefully she will have more information for you in two weeks when you go back. Thanks
having protein in your urine, well at least in my case, always had something to do with my kidneys. Dont be alarmed! My situation is a bit different due to the fact i had kidney failure as a kid and i do see a specialist still due to the fact it does not function a 100%. It doesnt always mean something bad. Follow up with your doctor... see what he/she has to say. Congrats on your levels... awesome job!!!! Just dont wait another 3 months to see your doc. Your health is important so go see him/her.
Thanks Christine. I will definitely go to my surgeon for my 6 month. If for no other reason, I need to go because they found spots on my liver during the pre-op stuff, so I have to repeat the CT scan and try to figure out about that.
I guess she is suspecting something other than kidneys since my tests for that looked normal. She did not seem too concerned, but did not want to ignore it. I guess I will google it!
