Maybe I'm not doin too bad
Sonya,
I've been hanging my head for weeks thinking I've ruined the surgery, that I'm the 5% that it is not going to work, that.... blah blah blah...
So reading this site again in the last few weeks has helped some and also hurt some :P
Watching people hit 100lbs at the same time out, yeah that is harder... but knowing that alot are right where we are at 60 out is very nice too :P
So for all of us average folk, let's all eat more protein, drink more water, exercise more and eat less carbs... or any combination thereof... and keep cheering each other on.
Thanks so much for posting this one
Michele
I have always seen this as more of a personal journey, and try to stay away from comparisons. Each of us starts from a different vantage point. My starting weight was a bit lower than some, so my weight is not coming off as fast. I will be 4 months out next week and I have lost only 52 lbs to date, and if you count the 5 I lost the week before surgery then my actual loss is less than that. Like Stephanie said once before, 10% of 240 lbs is only 24 lbs, but 10% of 340 is 34 lbs. so the pace will be different. If you have dieted before you know that the last 20 lbs or so before goal is the hardest to get off, so it's all relative. I'd love to have lost 100 lbs, and be at goal, but I realize that it's not possible, and in time my body will let go of the weight I had presurgery and allow me to get to a healthier weight. I know where I 'd like to be as far as goals, and will do everything with in my power (eating right and excersizing) to help me get there, but ultimatly I have no clue where I'll end up since I don't have ultimate control of what this body of mine will do. I just want to feel better, and looking better will be a nice fringe benefit...
That is so true realizing we are all different which of course makes us all unique. I would definately agree that this is a personal journey, but it is always nice to see others are somewhere within the range that you are in as well, helping us to not feel as though we're failing.. Although we know the facts of the surgery we still become anxious and wish that when we wake up...... We're no longer concidered obese or overweight and are at goal . So I think this site is great to see/read as many peoples journeys as possible and see that some people go at a faster pace and the transformations within their lifes as well as some who go slower and continually need the encouragment to keep going.
The way my surgeon has our manual's set up, it is interpeted that you should have lost 100lbs by your 6 to 7th month post op and getting close to stabilizing, so this site has been helpful to me as I definately am not near goal, and have quite a bit to go before 100lbs lost. But I have to say for every pound that I have lost I feel GREAT and a lot better than I did 4 months ago!!! and for that I'm am to greatful!!!

I do love this board. I mean being able to read and write to people that all had surgeries roughly around the same time is such a great support. My surgery was the 8th of January and so far i'm down 85 lbs. I still have a ways to go till I hit that 100. But right now, I just want to lose 1 pound (more is always welcome, too) lol. I'm at 200 on the dot. Grrr. But, looking back to the beginning of this year, I wouldn't of even of believed I am where I am now. I think we're all doing good, and eventually we'll all get to our goals
