Ok guys, just taking a tally here. How many of you are having major problems with chicken these days? I was doing fine with it, just had to eat slow, but recently I can't get it to go down. Last night I marinated the chicken for hours hoping it would be juicy enough after grilling for me to eat... but sure enough, I took a few bites and it was obvious that it wasn't making it down. That's the 2nd time in the last week my pouch has sent the chicken back up. Somehow, of all things, beef is the only meat my pouch is allowing down. Anyone else having problems with certain foods?

Hi Lori - Unfortunately or fortunately - all foods seem to be doing just fine going down. Chicken is one of the more troublesome to get down - but it does stay down. I usually have to make it really moist w/ sauces or it's own juices or even disquise it w/ veggies. I have just discovered marinated grilled shrimp - my new favorite - YUMMO. Marta

Hey Lori, Well yes, chicken does get to me if cooked in specific ways. For instance, I can't eat it grilled yet, but I can eat rotisserie style or from a crock pot. Even chicken in a South Beach frozen meal is fine for me. Now, if I need chicken for a recipe I just try to use the pre-cooked rotisserie chickens from the grocery. Otherwise, it just sits in my pouch and feels like little pebbles that weigh a ton! I never actually throw it up...I am not sure which is worse. As for beef, I can only seem to get that down if it is ground beef or stew meat from a crock pot. I can't even tolerate the idea of a piece of steak or the like. In any case, I seem to know before I even take a bite of any meat, how it is going to be received by my grouchy pouchy. It always knows before my brain does if it's a good idea...but sometimes I just have to try it anyway . Hugs...Suz

Lori, I never know what the heck will play nice and what won't. Once day I can eat chicken and the next I can't. I have previously been able to eat the chicken in the pouches by Bumblebee wth no problem. Last Wednesday I ate only 1/2 of one and got sick. The next day I ate the other half (very slowly and in shreds not even tiny pieces but shreds) and it stayed down. I am beginning to think that my pouch is a finicky thing. What it likes one day it will turn its nose up at the next. So no, you are not alone. I am ever hopeful that it will get better. Keep your chin up. Sandy

I'm fortunate to not have any problems with chicken. I eat chicken or ground turkey most days. Gr Beef works too, though haven't tried any other forms. The only meat that hasn't worked yet was lobster (too chewey to swallow) and pork chops (even broiled too much grease.) Pork loin shredded works. Isn't it weird how we can all tolerate different things, and then not even consistently?

What you said describes my experiences to a 't'. Nothing is ever consistent. As for eating chicken, it's the same way. I can usually eat it on a salad as long as it's juicy and not stringy. But if it's stringy, no way! It will either come back up, or I can't bear to swallow it.

I can do chicken, as long as I chew, chew, chew. I do notice that ground beef sits better in my poch than chicken though. That's what I'm having for dinner tonight. Hopefully it'll sit well.

I am with Martha...nothing has bothered me so far....pretty much everything goes down and stays down..even when it is not as moist as it should be....I must have a steel pouch!! lol

I'm with Stephanie- steel pouch here!!! BUT- chicken was harder for me than beef- in the beginning. Holly

Another friend that had the RNY told me I was going to have problems with chicken also and I worried because that is what we primarily eat. Like Stephanie, steel pouch! I just chew really well almost to the point of a cream, maybe that is the reason. My jaw does often hurt though after a meal with meat
