Help-Lab Results not so good
My doctor doesn't check labs until the year mark! I though that was nuts! I, too, am going to have my regular doctor here do labs since I'm a little concerned about iron.
I think the ketones thing sounds right. The protein, I'm not sure of but I have a recommendation on how to up it, although just my unprofessional opinion, not worth much Before that though, my doc says 60-70, he actually says to not overdo it because to much can be harmful. Again, his professional opinion but as you know those seriously vary!
Okay the protein: I just bought the Tasteless Any Whey protein from bariatriceating.com and I have been adding it to all kinds of stuff, just once a day though. Yesterday I added it to a pudding and it was great. I add it to my Cream of Wheat, my chili, and my soups. It does make things a little runnier which is odd to me since it's a powder but it doesn't change the flavor too much.
I just asked my mom to send me some tuna that I think Starkist makes. It comes in tiny little cans our perfect portions and with crackers, although I don't eat the crackers. Those cans have 18 grams of protein and they are so delicious. They have Lemon Pepper and a Basil and Sundried Tomato one. My mom said they had a new flavor that she is sending me, I can't wait to try it!
Anyway, you have me thinking I really need to go get my labs done soon also!

Hi Stephanie,
I've read varying levels of protein everywhere from 60-120g a day, so up your limit for sure :P.
My doc does labs every 3 mos, but the nurse forgot to send me for mine, so they called and had my PCP do it... turns out it was a good thing, low iron, low potassium, etc... so upped by vitamin intake and added iron pills.
Good thing you were smart and thought to have your pcp check for you
Check out bariatriceating.com for protein ideas, they sell a ton of diff products and some of them come in sample sizes. ( no i'm not affiliated with them rofl.. but i do buy stuff from them all the time )
Good luck,
Michele
