I made the family grilled cheese sandwiches and I ate one. I cut off all the crust and ate the rest slowly. Does this sound like too much food? Where are you guys at with amounts? Also- what do you think of this as a food choice? Thanks- Holly

I could have ate that too. I do eat sandwiches, I just use whole wheat bread and only eat half...BUT I could eat a whole one, especially if the only thing on it was melted cheese. As long as it wasnt white bread I dont think it was bad. Mary

I don't think it sounds like too much... matter of fact that is what the kids and hubby are having for lunch and I just might join them. Bread is one thing that I still avoid, but whenever I do eat it, it is not a problem. I am not sure why I don't eat it very often, but I usually use lo-carb tortillas instead. When I do though, I usually I have an open-faced sammy with just bread on bottom. I did have a 1/2 an english muffin yesterday with strawberry jam... YUMMMMMMMMY! Maybe that is why I avoid it, as well as potatoes and pasta... I used to really love them a little too much. BTW- You could improve you grilled cheese by using hard cheeses like swiss, mozzerella, or cheddar instead of american to up the protein value. Also, my mom LOVES grilled ham and cheese and grilled bacon and cheese, again, to get more protein in.

Thanks guys- Belle- I had never thought of using sliced cheese- we always just use the hard stuff and slice it off- but I could definately put a piece of ham in it or something. I can't eat bread unless it's toasted- that's the one thing I got sick on... I'm so afraid I'm eating too much- especially cuz my weight loss has slowed down significantly. I am just REALLY hungry again. For awhile I had to force myself to eat- but that's gone now- too bad!!! Thanks again- Holly

I have found I am only able to eat about 1/2 to 3/4 of any sandwich I eat. My Dr. does not have a carb restrictrion as many of yours do, so when I do eat something with bread or tortilla etc. I typically take as much of the "extra" breading off as possible because it's too filling and I'm not able to get as much protien in becuase the bread is too much on it's own. Just make sure your getting that cheese in..I'd even try adding another protein too it like ham or bacon or something.

Holly- Yah, see we always use the bad-for-you American singles, so it is not a great choice, but yours sounds pretty yummy. BTW- I thought of you tonight when I went to Olive Garden... I had just said that I hardly ever eat bread and I had over half of a breadstick! lol!

Now that is a REAL accomplishment. Only 1/2 bread stick. Geez, before I'd be asking for a refill of the basket from the waiter. Times have changed. Take Care, Evelyn
