Anyone Else Having Carb Cravings?

Hello everyone, We are about 4 months out now, it's my 4 mos anniversary actually, but I am having serious Carb cravings and my weight loss is slowing down to 2-3 lbs a week... anyone else having this issue? Ideas, suggestions? Thank you so much, Michele

Yeah Im down to losing only 2-3 lbs a week too. I do crave carbs sometimes, and I eat them. I just try to make them healthy carbs like whole wheat bread products or vegies, or wild rice or the barilla plus pasta with protein. I dont do the rice or pasta often, but I do eat a slice of bread or a low carb tortilla or half a bagel everyday. I think its normal for the weightloss to slow down a bit now. And naturally we're able to et more at this point than we could a month or two out. Our bodies do need some carbs, so dont feel bad about it, just try to make healthy choices. Mary

I crave carbs a lot, and if I haven't had much that day, I do allow myself some. (Example: Croutons on a salad, or tuna salad on crackers) It does help for a boost of energy.

Michelle, I too have carbs everday. I try to limit it to 100 grams a day. Most days I stay well below that number. I too try to keep them whole grain and healthy. I think 2-3 pounds is about normal for us 4 month post ops. It sounds to me like you are doing just fine. Sandy

OH YEAH!!! Big time carb craver here- I really have to watch it- I can be terrible!!! I bought the smaller 100 cal packs of some carb foods and I've found I can't keep them in the house- if I wait on my protein too long I go staraight for them. I just ate a south beach pizza for lunch- very good... Holly

I'm about the same average weekly although I usually have about a week and a half per month that the scale does not move at all. It is very frustrating. I love my carbs. I should count my grams because I know it is easy to eat more carbs that you realize. I like crackers with my tuna. I eat popcorn several times a week (the mini bag). I can't tolerate untoasted bread or rolls or biscuits that kind of thing so that is good. But tortilla chips and popcorn are my weakness. The protein bars do kinda fill the carb craving. I like the South Beach Diet - High Protein Bars - Cinnamon Raisin. They taste just like a cinnamon roll.

Thanks guys, So good to know I'm not the only one :P I've been giving in a lot on fat free popcorn, soy chips, and going out for mexican food so i have the excuse to eat tortilla chips and salsa hehe. I'm finding that besides for crunchy stuff, I simply prefer not to each, which isn't good either. Anyway, thanks for the support and I will try to make my choices healthier! Michele

Carbs make me crave more carbs. I know I'm a carb junkie have been always will be. This theory was only reinforced during first month after wls I didn't crave or have any hunger at all. Could it be that not having cravings or any hunger was purely due to having surgery, any surgery at all? Funny thing is once I started introducing foods with carbs wether they be high fiber carbs or not, the cravings came back. Cravings are back but thank goodness my pouch has a limit now. That is my saving grace right now. I do stick with high fiber low glycemic index foods which helps.
