In a Food Rut!

I don't know what's up, but the last week, I have had a hard time finding foods that I want to eat. I know I have to eat, and I am physically hungry, it is just that nothing sounds good. Anybody else experiencing anything like this? It is like I am just so bored with my choices that nothing sounds good. It is frustrating to say the least! POSITIVE: Sugary foods or carb-rich foods don't sound good either, (although I did pop a bag of regular kettle corn last night but it did not hit the spot either!) NEGATIVE: I would say that the biggest drawback is that I am not meeting my protein requirements, where that was one thing I was doing right everyday. I have starting using 1/2 a New Whey again daily. yuck... Anyone have suggestions, or some foods that really appeal to you right now?

I feel this way ALL the time, and I thought I was alone. Thank you for posting! I also have trouble getting in all my protein, so I've been taking protein bullet supplements still as well. Here's a list of things I eat. They probably appear to be high in carbs, but right now they work for me, so I'm not sweating it too bad. - I eat salads a lot. Lettuce, a little tomato, cheese, cubed ham, bacon bits and/or hard boiled egg (and occasionally a few croutons) are good toppings. - Sugarfree Carnation Instant Breakfast - 6 grams of protein - Dannon Light & Fit yogurt (Vanilla & Cereal flavor, and Strawberry Banana smoothie) - String cheese snacks (11 grams of protein in the XL ones, only about 3 ounces) - Home-made crustless pizza made with turkey pepperonis, mozzarella cheese and low-sugar pizza sauce - South Beach diet granola bars, Mixed Berry flavor is delish

Well, unfortunately Isabella...I am in the same rut that you are in. I am meeting my protein requirements (most days) but I am finding it difficult to eat. It is just not appealing. I'm trying so hard to find things that I like, but popsicles seem to be the only thing that I actually like! Not very nutritious!! I have found that I don't mind having plain yogurt sweetened with some Splenda, with mixed frozen berries added. It almost freezes up like soft frozen yogurt if you mix the berries in while still frozen. In fact, since I haven't really eaten much today I may just have that for dinner. I really need to work on this issue myself as I am rarely meeting my calorie intake requirements each day. No wonder I seem to have trouble losing consistantly. I hope you get some great advice...I could use some, too!!! Hugs...Suz

I am in and out of the same rut but I am enjoying having to remind myself to eat! woohoo I have been trying to overcome the funk of this by trying new things. Tonight I went out with my hubby. I have never enjoyed anything Japanese, especially su****he one time before I ate Japanese, I was so sick and miserable and this was years before surgery. Sooooo I decided to give it a whirl tonight. I figured that he deserved to eat something he loved and if I couldn't find anything on the menu, I could get some decaf tea and load liquids instead of eating. I had the best time purusing the menu and asking prep questions. My taste buds and head are in a different place. I ordered a su****ype roll with grilled chicken. Of course I took home takeout but it was soooo tasty. And the restaraunt was so interesting. So to sum it up, I am finding more interest and taste in new foods I have never eaten or wanted to eat. The worst that can happen is that I won't like them or they won't agree with me. Katy B

Same problems here. I can totally relate to what Katy said "My taste buds and head are in a different place". Sometimes I think something sounds great, but I just know it won't agree so I go back to the small ole South Beach Bar or yogurt. Like some of the above I love the fresh fruits and veggies and crave them, but they don't have the protein I need. I know I need to be getting more protein to keep losing. I have been trying more fish lately, salmon, cod, and talipia.

Marilyn, You summed it up for me. I crave (if that is the right word) the fruits and veggies and healthy stuff but protein is still a challenge. I love the fish and could eat that most days. I could easily become a vegetarian at this point. My support group tells me that this is normal and the protein gets easier after the first 5 months. I have found some liquid protein (orange or punch) that I actually like after trying tons of powders. It is from GNC and on a BOGO special right now. I add it to my 30 oz mug of hot decaf orange tea in the morning. 3T add 18 g or protein and it only has 5 g of sugar per 3T. I had to start with adding 1T at a time to my water but now I am used to it. It gets me closer to where I need to be on protein and makes me feel better about the day. But all in all, besides the occassional challenge, isn't this awesome! I feel sooooo good. Katy B

Right now im enjoying steak and seafood. I still eat refried beans with cheese also. I dont think i was getting in all my protein either so i started adding unjury(unflavored) to my drinks and meals and i see that i am getting it in. At this point... i am not even liking food. I find it a struggle to even want to eat. I eat 3 meals a day and just get in the protein.

I am in the same rut. Nothing appeals to me except those things I can't tolerate yet. I still have a hard time with beef, lamb and ham. They just don't agree with my pouch. I use Unjury for protein. It tastes much better to me and can be mixed with most things except Crystal Lite ( gives it a bad after taste). One of the things I have found helpful is to mix the Unjury with skim milk and skim mil**** cubes add some other things like a bananna or peanut butter and splenda to taste. Makes a great smoothie and is something different. I use the chocolate Unjury. A serving (8 0z after mixed is 42 g of protein and 8 oz of fluids. My biggest problem is getting in my fluids. I just can't seem to get past the 50 oz level. You might want to try using flavorings in some of the more bland things we need to eat. Gives the food a different taste. Good Luck Rich

WOW! It is great to know I am not alone... Thanks for all the suggestions. Right now thigns that sound good to me are steak, seafood, fruits and veggies, but of course those are the ones that take so much energy to fix! I think I am just lazy and want to be able to just grab something and eat it. Maybe I need to plan ahead more! Right now I am hooked on orages. No protein of course, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Thanks again, Belle
