Has anyone started to feel hungry again?
I was just wondering if the hunger had returned for anyone yet? I've eaten a few things that I shouldn't have and I think that makes you want more- which I do. It could also just be PMS- does anyone still get cravings with PMS?
It's so important that I change my habits now while I still can. For awhile i was just not hungry and didn't eat a lot- but i know I won't feel that way forever and I've got to work on my new habits now.
Getting hungry- I think-

I get hungry!! Usually about every 2 hrs or so. And i feel like I eat alot, for ex. 1/2 - 1/3 grilled chz sandwhich for B... 1/2 cup tuna salad gfor L...3-4 oz of chicken, 1 TBS vegies, 1-2 tsp rice for D. If I have snack in between I eat a protein ball or a cheese stick or some almonds... BUT Now that "mother nature" is visiting, I wanna eat everything. Im fightin it too and its hard.

Ahhhh...PMS cravings!!! How I wish that had gone away! It happens to me every month...and I crave things that I just can't have like chocolate cheesecake! It does pass, and if I just can't get around it I will have a small piece of sf chocolate. Sometimes, I am really just thirsty and don't know the difference, then some crystal light fills the bill for both thirst and a sweet taste of something. All in all, the struggle with food is easier, but it's still there all the same!

Speaking of PMS, I am having ANOTHER period (second one in two months)! I can definitely tell the surgery is changing my system internally since I haver had more than one period a year before! Strange... Glad I had a tubal, though!
About feeling hungry, I have never stopped feeling hungry sadly. I wish that I were one of the ones who don't really have much of an appetite, but I am not. I get really hungry to the point where I feel sick if I don't eat something about every 3 hours.
I am exactly the same way. I get "hungry" about every three hours...but it just feels like an empty feeling in my guts. Gross description, I know!LOL But, I can easily go all day without eating and not miss it. Sometimes it feels like it would just be easier that way...no thinking involved.
My periods have become much more regular since surgery...every 5th of the month like clockwork now. Not one of my favorite side effects...but I'll gladly take it to feel as good as I do now!
Hi - I feel real hunger, not head hunger as everyone likes to think. I'm talking stomach rumbling, and nasuea like Belle. i've felt this since I was a couple of weeks out, even my Nut. was surprised. I do have to eat every 3 hours, and when I get that hungry I don't go crazy like b/4 consuming everything in sight. I usually just need a something small (like protein) and I'm fine.

Thanks you guys!!!
I tried a protein bullet today and that seemed to help a little with my hunger- upping my protein. I was definately going too long without eating.
I also agree- I do mix thirst with hunger feelings- but I'm better about my liquids now than ever.
I have to say- having PCOS- even my periods are getting more regular- which I guess is good. I used to just consume mucho amounts of Advil to decrease my 3 days of flow- I sure miss that!!!
I just have got to stay away from the junk food- even at PMS time!!!
Thanks everyone-
Holly
Yes, I definitely have real hunger, not just head hunger. My RD said that this was not a problem, but recommended I try to eat more frequently. She explained it that when you get hungry, your body starts a reaction that slows your metabolism because it tries to conserve energy, not knowing when it will get more food. Then of course, when you get really hungry, and feel sick like I do, you tend to make bad choices like overeat, eat too quickly, pick the wrong foods, etc. The 3 hour schedule works for me, but that is probably why I eat closer to 1000 calories a day, when it seems like many others of you eat around 700-800? I don't know, but the 3 hour schedule seems to work for me.
Holly- I also have PCOS, even since I was a teen and was thin. I normally would have 3-4 periods a year, then those decreased as I gained weight. Then of course I have been on meds to get pregnant, been pregnant, or been nursing for almost 7 straight years, so I didn't know what to expect after I weaned my twins and then had WLS, both in January. Now I have had 2 periods in 3 months... an all time record for me! Makes me really glad I went ahead and had a tubal! lol!
