Hi - I was just wondering if anyone has tried alcohol yet? I know that it is advised that we don't drink..... but I was just curious if anyone has tried and what was it. I did try a sip of a beer around St. Patricks day - and found it didn't taste good. I was never a big beer drinker though. I preferred vodka and martinis...... I have yet to try those, maybe someday when I'm not so chicken. Any thoughts ? Marta

Marta, I have not tried alcohol yet either. I did have a sip (very small sip) of champagne at my brother's wedding when I was 2 months out. I didn't like it but I have never been a drinker. I used to have a salty dog on VERY rare occasions but I am putting off drinking as long as possible. I worry that the addict in me will transfer addictions. I mean if liquor gives me the same kind of feeling that a whole box of Tagalongs (ate at one sitting) gave me pre-surgery I want to avoid that at all costs. If the "buzz" is the same I would be a raging alcholic in no time. Just my thoughts. Sandy

I'll let you know what I try, I'm going out with my gf's next weekend and will drink a little. I hope a little gets me buzzed becuase before that it would take a lot for me to feel it. I hope things have changed! I'm not sure what to try though because I don't want to overdo it with carbs or calories. Any suggestions?

I haven't tried any yet, but I've been dying to just to see what it's like. I've never been REAL drinker or anything, but I will have a margarita or martini occasionally when I'm out with friends, and lately when we go out, I've been refraining from it. Let me know how it goes if you all try it before me!

I went to a St Patrick's day party and carried around a flavored Zima something- I sipped it- but was afraid to drink it because of the carbonation. I have had some kind of a martini and on another occasion I've had a glass of white wine. I live at high altitude and am not a big drinker so it never used to take much for me feel it. I can't say that I felt anything- cuz I really didn't drink that much... Holly

Nope, haven't tried it and don't plan to anytime soon. I think I just decided to try to follow my surgeon's protocol as much a I possibly could so that I can make it to goal. I figured that I have an entire lifetime ahead of me to screw this u*****t, and for me to temp fate this early out would just be silly. Hugs...Suz

My husband and I went out last week for our anniversary and I had a drink. I was seriously disappointed though! I had been told that we would feel the effects quickly, but I never got anything off of it but a heavy feeling in my head and arms! Bummer! I am not much of a drinker (I think it has been over 2 years since I had a drink) so I guess that is not going to change. Afterward I just thought "WHAT A HORRIBLE WASTE OF CALORIES!!!!"

Well, congrats on the anniversary...I have my 15th coming up on the 27th. But, no going out to celebrate for me...hubby is going to be out of town . As for the drink and lack of effect...that's probably a good thing. Now it won't be something else that you need to worry about wasting any calories on! It's hard enough as it is!
