Anyone else losing hair?

Hey all, I'm 10 weeks out and started losing some hair about 2 weeks ago. I take my multivitamins and calcium, and I get about 60 grams of protein a day, so I guess I'm just one of the unlucky ones. Anyone else out there going through this?

Hi - I can't say that I'm losing hair in massive clumps.... but.... It definitely is thinner. I have extremely thick hair to begin with - so my Hairdresser said it's not a bad thing. I heard that in time it will balance out and stop falling out. Your body has to adjust to everything. I have never heard of anyone actually going bald from wls - so hopefully in time I will stop shedding. Marta

My answer is the same as Marta's. I feel like my hair is getting thinner, but I have verrry very thick (and voluptuous) hair, so it's not that noticeable to other people. My nutritionist did tell me about a vitamin patients can take to reduce hair loss/thinning. You might ask your doc/nut next time you're there.

http://www.bsslex.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_28&products_id=58 This is the product I was talking about. As far as I know, anyone can buy from this website (even though it's run by my clinic).

I've been losing a lot of hair for years...thyroid and PCOS issues, and haven't really noticed a change since surgery. I take biotin daily to help prevent hair loss. I really want to start taking vitamin E again as well, but the pill is SO big. If anyone knows of a small vitamin E pill, let me know! I also recommend Nioxin shampoo, conditioner, and "treatment" solution. It worked great when I first began "thinning out" 5 years or so ago....as my thyroid troubles got worse, the Nioxin kind of stopped working, but it was great for a few years. Maybe up your protein to 70-80g? I've heard that helps. Margaret

Holy cow...to tell you the truth I had sort of forgotten all about the "losing your hair" thing until this post! LOL But, I am 10 weeks out as well and wouldn't be surprised if it started sometime soon. As of yet...I haven't noticed a thing. I really hope that I am a lucky one because I have baby fine hair and can't really afford to lose anything that I've got!! I would probably be one of the first to end up bald and hiding!! Hugs...Suz

I am now 3 months out as of today and yes I am losing my hair. It started about 2 weeks ago for me. After I blow dry my hair every morning I have to clean out the sink and swiffer the floor. I also have fine hair and hope I don't lose too much. Maybe it will help with weight loss. Have a good weekend. Roxanne

Laura, I am a little over 3 months and I have not noticed any hair loss YET. I have extremely thin hair to begin with so I am really hoping and praying I don't lose any hair. I take 2 multivitamins, 2 calcium, 1000 mcg of B12 per day plus I take a very large dose of Biotin every night faithfully. I had asked my surgeon about Biotin at the seminar you have to attend at the beginning of the journey and he said it wouldn't help BUT the hospital's WLS liason (who had the surgery less than 2 years ago) told me she swears by it. She said she hasn't lost any hair. Sandy
