About new foods? Surgery was 1/23/07
I had my Gastric bypass surgery on 1/23/2007 and I read everyones post on the forum message board and I am totally amazed by alot of the post and replies. I am scared to death to try "new" foods. I found "eggs" are yucky for me and I use to love them. I would love to try a salad but my brain warns me not too (if that makes any sense). My daily meals usually consists of yogurt for breakfast, chili for lunch and tuna fish or baked fish for dinner ...oh yeah...and I try to remember to drink a protein drink. I do drink de-caf tea with splenda but usually I just drink Crystal light.
Everyone on here is sooooo much an inspiration to me and I am sooo thankful there is a website like this.
Thanks for reading and any suggestions for my "FEARS" to be gone would be appreciated!!!!
Kathy
Kathy,
I had surgery 3 days after you. I completely understand why you'd be hesitant to try new things. But here has been my experience so far:
Salads are wonderful. I usually chop up some moist chicken (non-breaded) or ham on top, also grated cheese and even a few croutons for flavor. I find that I can eat most any dressing with low sugar content.
I could make a list of lots of foods I have been eating these days, but my suggestion to you would just be to try little bits of things at a time if you're afraid. Obviously, keep it low in sugar and abide by your doctor's or nutritionist's guidelines, but you're over 2 months out now, so you may be pleasantly surprised with new foods you'll be able to add to your diet.
:] Welcome to the board.

Hi Kathy!! I agree with the first to posters...just try to incorporate new things one a day a time. I too am eating salads all the time now and have not had any problems with them. Do you try eggs boiled too and don't like them? I find boiled eggs a llittle easier than scrambled at times, and i am really on a egg salad kick that I need to get a way from.
Welcome aboard and hope to see you around more!!
Hiyas Kathy, I have to agree with the other ladies, one new thing at a time to see if your pouch will accept it. That's what I do. I tried some sugarfree/fatfree icecream and dumped....it was so good but not really worth it. So today I reverted back to the sugarfree popsicles....banana...yummy. I too eat salad. My fav is broiled chicken on top with a fatfree ranch I make myself from the packets. Yummy. I love salads they are by far my favorite food. Hope this helps. Welcome to the board!!!
