Is anyone having problems with late-night snacking? That was a big problem of mine pre-op, and it is resurfacing. I am trying to make good choices, like cheese or nuts and a piece of fruit, but I go to bed feeling like I failed everynight by snacking after dinner. Any suggestions? I only lost 2 pounds last week, and I am sure I know why... I stopped working out because I got busy playing and working outside because of the warm weather AND I started snacking at night again. rrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ Belle

Belle, Okay I admit it. I do have a problem with late night snacking. I am still eating 5 times a day and sometimes I will have popcorn at night also. Old habits are so hard to break. Sandy

Why did you have to say pop corn! I have been craving popcorn since I was in the hospital and thought it would not be something I coud have. And I am craving movie pop corn with lots of butter..so that is mainly why I have stayed away from it..I don't want the almost good for me kind..I want the very very bad for me kind! lol

Hi - I always eat b/4 i go to bed. I have to..... if I don't - . I wake up w/ heart palpatations and feel weird all over. My nut and dr. said this could be from low blood sugar from going to long w/ out eating. However...... I try and eat mostly protein - such as peanut butter and sugar free jelly on a wasa cracker, applesauce mixed w/ peanut butter , low or non fat cheese, protein drink that kind of stuff. Once in awhile I will have soy chips that have 8 grams of protein in them, that way I feel like i'm eating a chip but it also has protein and low carbs. I don't feel bad about it, I used to eat chips/ pretzels, cheez its, and sugary things.... I'm still losing - so for right now I guess it's not a problem. Marta

So far I have not had the munchies or done any late night snacking. I am usually sleep early so that helps. I think before surgery my biggest problem was eating junk food all day while at work and then going home and being a couch potatoe. So far at work, I have not had the snacking problem. My co workers all know that i had wls so they keep me accountable and try not to bring in too many tempting items. And even with the not snacking and not eating rice, potatoes, pasta and bread, I am still losing slowly! Makes me want to go to the movies and get my buttered popcorn and go to O'Charleys and get me a some of those rolls! But I guess I will hold out....I am bound to have a week soon where I am losing more than a pound again. And Belle..working and playing out side is good too! Enjoy this beautiful weather and make the most of your play time out and make it count as exercise!

I do get those cravings late night. But I've found some 100 calorie bags of popcorn ( they also have kettle corn) that I've snacked on a couple of times. I don't do this often, but when I do I don't feel that bad because it's just a 100 calories. Before WLS I would have had that and then some! hehehehehehe!

Im typing this with one hand and eating a half a bannana with peanut butter with the other!! And its 10:30 pm!! Yes I definantly have the problem too. As someone else mentioned tho I try to make it a good for me snack like the bannana, peanut butter, cheese sticks... Its funny, Ive always been one that could go all day and not eat but at night I wanna munch. I have heard that our bodies dont know what time it is when we eat but its the daily caloric intake that matters. SO...lets hope thats true!! Good luck. Mary

Well, I am glad to know I am not the only one having this "problem"... I really am trying to make good choices when the late night craving comes on. Maybe I should just give into it, but make sure I am eating the right types and quantities. I stocked up yesterday on soy chips (yummy!), pork rinds, and jerky. I will also pick up some of those 100 calorie bags of popcorn. Popcorn is the one thing I still have not tried since my surgery. I appreciate the suggestions! Belle

I have had no problems with popcorn. TG, it's my favorite snack. Make sure with your NUT that you can have it though.

Yeah, I have to say that the urge usually hits me around 9pm, I try to drink something, but that doesn't work. So I will eat half a protien bar and I feel less guity about eating and my belly is satisfied. Crystal
