Are you still journaling?

Is anyone still counting calories and protein? Does anyone still keep a food journal? If you are counting calories, how many calories are you eating at this point? I keep a tally in my head (old habit I think) and I tend to fall between 1000-1200 calories. That seems like a lot! Belle

Belle, I use fitday.com faithfully. It is free and you can keep track of your calories, protein and water intake. I try to stay under 1000 but that may not be what my doctor advises. I have an appt with him in two weeks and I am going to ask him how many calories I am supposed to have. I try to keep my carbs to less than 100. Hope that helps, Sandy

Hi - I still keep a food journal, not as faithful as I was at first, but I still keep a general one. I don't keep track of calories or fat or carbs.... I really on track protein. I don't eat alot of carbs and everything is usually non fat or low fat to begin with. marta

I still log everything that I eat or drink on a small yellow legal pad. I keep it across from the frige so that is always handy. I only use fitday for things like fresh veggies and such...things that don't have available nutritional info. Otherwise I just calculate it myself. I generally tend to stay at about 800 calories and over 70 grams of protein per day. Hugs...Suz

I also use fitday.com every day to track my calories, carbs and protein there. I usually stay under 1000 calories each day and do between 70 and 80 grams of protein and I have been getting between 75 and 90 oz of water a day. At least on most days. Yesterday was a bad day, I barely had 600 cal and 50 grams of protein and did not get in 64 oz of water either. Oh well, today is another day. My surgeon recommends that we stay around 1000 calories right now and later on he says to do between 1000 and 1200 a day. I am trying to get in the habit now of weighing my food but that is so hard. I have noticed that my idea of 3 oz and the real 3 oz is not the same! It has been an eye opener using a food scale I tell ya. Hope each of you have a blessed Easter Weekend!

I keep a tally in my head, but really don't journal. I use fitday when I'm unsure about something. I stay under 1000 calories a day and try to get about 57 grams of protein per my NUT! I don't count carbs, but I don't eat a lot of them.

I have never heard of fitday.com. I just checked it out. My only question is, it seems hard to enter things on your own. Nothing I had today seemed to be in their bank! Am I doing something wrong?

No I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I've had some problems finding some things too. I have a better time searching through than typing in the food item and finding it that way.

I am a terrible list keeper. I keep it all in my head too (scary place though). I mostly watch my protien intake as it has been kind of low. I also tend to be around 1000 calories a day, and that is what my doc wants me at, so I think you are Ok there. Crystal
