Mary, Thanks for asking this question. I'm constantly questioning myself whether I'm eating too much/too little, or the "right" things. Yesterday (Wed.) I ate (and drank - I included my protein drinks): B - Dannon Carb Control yogurt with 2 tbsp ground flax seed S - Smartforme protein shake L - 1/2 cup chili with a little grated cheddar cheese and 1 tbsp fat free sour cream S - 1 protein ball D - 1/4 cup tuna salad w/lite mayo, 6 saltine crackers S - 42g new whey protein S - (drum roll - this was a huge splurge for me) 1-2 cups (that's right - I didn't measure!) Smartpop popcorn (basically fat free). This is the first time I've eaten more than one or two kernals of popcorn....no tummy problems...which could potentially be a discipline problem. I think I'm going to buy some of the new 100 cal. smartpop packets and limit myself to once a week max - if that. I felt like I ate way too much yesterday - too many carbs especially. Kind of silly when comparing it to what I used to eat, but I'm always afraid I'll mess something up and stop losing. Margaret

BTW- What is a protein ball? I was acutally going to post something similar to this now that I found this board. I am also always worried that I am eating too much, and I never have problems eating ANYTHING (kind of a bad thing). I have gotten comfortable with my eating and I don't obsess over portions... no more measuring and calorie counting. I just usually eyeball it and try to stay around a 1/2 cup. If I go over, my stomach tells me by feeling so full and yucky. Yesterday I had... B: 1/2 low carb bbq pizza S: salad with ranch L: chicken leg, no skin, and lima beans S: carb control yogurt D: 1/2 C crustless quiche S: 1/4 C Carb watchers ice cream I feel like I eat a lot, but I know I do best when I snack (which is also what my nutritionist recommends). I am always satisfied and I don't feel deprived. My calories (although I stopped journaling them, I still keep a running tally in my head) stay around 1000-1200 a day. The average WL for this stage is around a half pound per day (per my surgeon and nutritionist) and I lose about 2.5-4 pounds a week, so I am in the right neighborhood. I still feel like I eat too much though! Glad I am not alone in this! Belle

Hi Belle, The protein balls I eat are peanut butter oatmeal balls: 1 cup Peanut Butter (I used natural, no sugar pb) 1 cup rolled oatmeal -- not the instant stuff 1 cup protein powder (I used Unjury Chocolate, but you can use other flavors) 5 packets Splenda Mix it all up, roll it into walnut-pingpong ball sized balls and freeze or refrigerate. Yummy. Approx 10g protein per ball, 10g "good" carbs, 100 cal. per ball. I doubled the recipe and it made enough for a month. Margaret

HI Belle, the bbq pizza sounds good. I use the turkey pepperoni too and low carb tortillas for pizza but never tried it with bbq sauce. It sounds to me like youre doing good. I unfortunatly DO obsess with portion size and calories and carbs and just about anything to do with eating!!!! I also discovered tonight that I cant tell Im full until Im TOO full. I havent gotten sick and, like you. have had no problems with food. I saw a post like this on the main board so I posted the same here to compare myself with others at my stage of the game. I think we should keep it going. I know it really helps me and I hope some of you guys too!! Mary

Hi Margaret, I know what u mean about questioning everything u eat. I do too. But it sounds like to me youre doing good. Youre right tho ...it is soooo much less than we used to eat. Discipline...whats that?? LOL Ive never been able to do that. Its so hard to limit yourself when u dont feel satisfied. I took my daughter to a party at chucky cheese tonight. When asked if I wanted pizza I turned it down. BUT..when my daughter decided she didnt want the last half of her slice I ate it!! ARGH! old habits die hard!! Mary

Mary, That doesn't sound like too much to me. I love your breakfast. I will have to try that. Here is what I had yesterday: B 1/2 cup cottage cheese with a fruit cup no sugar added snack: protein bar L Hormel turkey w/ Hearty Vegatables (these are those shelf stable meals you see at the grocery store) snack: string cheese and soy chips D: crackers and fudgesicle It have decided that part of the reason I am having a plateau is that I eat too many carbs. So I have decided to do something different. Today I am going to try and keep it under 75 grams. Sandy

HI Sandy, isnt it a bummer how quickly those carbs add up?? I try to watch it too, but I cant go completely without them. Gotta have some whole wheat bread or low carb tortilla. And fruits and vegies have carbs too. Thats not even fair!! LOL Im so glad we have each other to get advice and info from. I'd be lost without you guys. Mary

Hi Mary: Let me try this again..I typed all this information and hit some button and lost all that I typed. morning protein drink B two slices of bacon L- taco salad- ( made up of about 1 0z of ground beef, 3 chopped tomatoe pieces, teaspoon of salsa, 1 teaspoon of sour cream, 1 oz of lettuce, 1 oz of pinto beans (I actually had about 4 beans but on fitday I tracked an oz), and an oz of shredded cheeese) D 2 oz baked pork chop, with rosemary seasoning Evening protein drink with water I think we have all gone thru the "am I eating too much" or the "I think I can eat too much" phase. I posted a similar questions after about 3 weeks post op and a reply I got opened my eyes to how I have to change. She told me that just because I can eat 4 oz of food, does not mean that I should eat that much. Especially this early out, I should stick to eating around 2 oz per meal (which I don't) to maximize the weight loss right now. I do know that with our Monday morning weigh ins, we are all losing at the pretty much the same rate..so that is definitely encouraging...we could not all be doing something wrong!! So keep up the good work and see you around!!

HI Stephaine... Taco salad...yum!!! I love it. Your a much better woman than I am tho to be able to stop yourself at 2 pices of bacon or 2 oz of food. I know I should stop myself but its hard too when you dont feel satisfied. I did discover tonight tho that I dont feel full until Im too full. Its differant than before surgery. I guess I gotta relearn how things feel. this is a whole new ball game. But we're gonna win!! Mary
