Skin issues?????
I just had my surgery in Jan and have lost 36 pounds so far. Has anyone had any issues with their skin, extra dryness flaky patches etc....please help I want ot make sure this is a part of losing this weight and nothing else.... And if you know any ways to treat it.....Tried a lot of different lotions but cant find one that really works.

Hi Mz Willie -
yes - since surgery my skin had been dry as well. I know I have issues w/ drinking enough water..... they say that is part of the dryness. Also, my face has had more break outs than usual. I heard on another board that fish oil helps w/ skin issues. i'm going to try it, there is a brand called Coramega and everyone raves about it. It is in emollsion form, not a pill. I sent away for a free sample b/4 I actually buy it.

I had excessively dry skin before the surgery. I bought a cheap bottle of bath oil from Wal-Mart called Boothe's Bath oil. I think it was like 4.99. I leave it in the shower and at the end of every shower, I drench myself with it. You have to be a little careful becuase it does make your shower a bit slippery at times. I do a final rinse, then I pat dry. My skin has improved immensely since starting this 2 months ago. I had severe patches on elbows and they are almost completely gone.

I hope it works for you. My rheumotologist is going to be suprised at how well my skin will look this Wednesday. She saw me on the 6th and was very concerned about the dryness of my skin. At the time, I hadn't been using Booths faithfully, but didn't think it was working. She will be glad to see.
I have a hard time getting my water in too. I think I only drink around 36-40 oz a day, and a lot of times even less, around 26-30. I know that contributes.
Good luck and let me know how it works for you. I feel as cheap as it is and as long as it lasts, it's worth a lot of drenching. It feels like Vitamin E oil, but one small bottle of that is around 5.99, so you can't use it in excess.

Well I have had extremely dry /flaky skin on the back of my hands and knuckles. I don't know if it's the surgery or simply because I live near Buffalo, NY and I swear it's always snowing here, haha. I've been using the medicated lotion of Gold Bond (big ol' green bottle). Literally my skin has been soaking it up. It seems to be getting better, but then again it's starting to warm up a little here. Dunno.
I went to my WalMart yesterday to by some more Booths Bath and Body Oil...they did not have any in stock, but they had a huge bottle of the Booths 4 in 1 Vanilla butter on clearance for $3.5. So I bought it. I used it this morning and it made my skin feel even softer.
Now I am concerned about the whole clearance thing, because I sure hope they will have both of these back in stock....I am wishing I bought 2-3 bottles of each. Even though the lotion will probably last 6 months it is a big bottle.
It's made here in Dallas, so maybe some other stores carry it. I looked at Kroger but they didn't have it.
Good luck in finding, if you do, let me know!
I am going to try the peanut butter thing too. Maybe that will help the dryness on my feet that doesn't seem to work with anything.
Thanks,
Lindy
