Are you getting all your Protien??

I am very curious about how much protien you are all getting. I am having issues with getting enough. I feel fine, my hair is still in my head, and my muscles are toning, but I am only getting about 25-30g of protien a day. I am still losing weight and have lost a total of 45lbs. So I am just wondering. So here are my questions. What is your main source of protien (shakes, supplements, or regular food)? How many grams do you get in a day? I get my protien from the protien bars (which are too heavy, but I struggle thru it) and chicken, turkey, and eggs (I like them again). But I just can't stomach the drinks, no matter how much I try and the different brands I try. Just doesn't work. Thanks for listening Crystal 248/203/125

Crystal, I have that problem from time-to-time. But luckily, I have recently ordered a case of Profect (www.protica.com) and that makes it sooo much easier. Its quite expensive, but I am determined to make the most of this 'honeymoon period' so I decided to fore-go the expense. They're only 2.9 ounces, and 25 grams of protein. But I'm like you... those other supplements... YUCK. I cant stomach them either. The chalky copper taste, and the thick creamy-ness. It was just too much to drink and I had a real hard time with those. Total, I get about 60 grams per day. That's the minimum according to my nutritionist, and I'm happy with that for now. Which protein shakes/supplements have you tried so far Crystal?

Exactly, the chalky, weird protien taste kills me. I have tried AdvantEdge Isopure Unjury and a couple others I can't remember the name of. I might try that profect. I just hate having to think protien all the time. It is getting on my nerves. Thanks Catherine Crystal

Cathryn - are the profect bullets better than the New whey ones? The new whey are gross but I suffer through it and chase w/ water. Marta

I don't think I've heard of the new whey ones... ? What are they? To be honest, I don't particularly like the taste of Profect, but its sooo much easier to drink than creamy protein shakes. Its stout. But Its not that much, so I do it!

Hi - I get in a minimum of 50 - 60 grams per day. I only use 1 protein drink per day and get the rest from food. Some of the food I eat are salmon, cottage cheese, nonfat or reduced cheese, chicken, veggie patties, eggs, cold cuts, beef jerky, ground beef, chickpeas, beans - I basically can eat anything I try no problems. Alot of these foods are high in protein. For protein drinks I actually try and only do the 25g ones or 42g bullets once in a while. The new whey bullets are gross, but I suffer thru the 3 oz. and chase them w/ water or even mix it in w/ water. I can also drink the EAS advantage drinks they don't bother me. i can't do slimfast or carnation breakfast drinks. Once in a while I'll have a protein bar as well. The soy crips snacks even have up to 7g. protein in them. I have heard of profect and wonder if it is any better than the new whey bullets ?Let me know if you try it. Marta

I usually get in about 50-60 or more a day. I take a shake in the morning (unjury) and the rest from foods. I actually like the unjury a lot. Now that I am allowed to have some fruit in my diet I have added 1/4-1/2c into my vanilla unjury to make a smoothie. Tastes even better... sorry you haven't had luck with them (unjury.) I have a friend who likes the protein water they have out. I've never bought or tried it. I just use regular water.

45lbs is awesome!! Somedays I have trouble getting my recommended protein in also. I need to be getting 57 grams of protein, I get between 45-55. I don't do shakes anymore and probably should. I just like the food too much. lol!

Hi Crystal, I generally end up at about 60-70 grams a day. The only way I could get that on a regular basis is to use the New Whey protein bullets @ 42 grams of protein each. They have 176 calories, and come on only 3 flavors~~orange, grape, fruit punch~~which don't really taste the greatest. However, they are only 3 ounces so I drink half of one in the morning and the other half at night. I have to follow them up with water to wash the taste out of my mouth, but it is worth it to get so much protein in such a small quantity of liquid. As for the rest of my diet, I just try to follow the protein first rule and I read every label to find the things with the most protein per serving since we can only eat 1/3 to 1/2 of a regular serving. It definately makes for a boring diet for right now, but it will be so worth it later when the weight is gone and I can just maintain with a slightly more regular diet. You might want to give the bullets a try...I really think that they are better going down than shakes. I get them in a case of 12 for about $29 at The Vitamin Shoppe, or you can get them online from various retailers...I just hate paying for shipping and then having to wait!! Hugs...Suz

Thank you all so much for your help and advice. I think I will try the bullets. I am just so tired of spending money for protien and then it sits in my cabinet. I think I am going to go to the Health Store this weekend and wander around. Don't you wish they could make a chewable protien pill that had 30g of protien per pill. We would be GOLDEN. Thanks again. Crystal
