I think Im able to eat too much and thought Id get some ides of what others at my stage are eating in a day. Maybe I can get a better prospective on this. today I had... B- 1 boiled egg (i mushed up the yolk w/ a little mayo and pickle relish, like a deviled egg) 2 oz yogurt L- half a turkey sandwich (on whole wheat bread, with mayo and 2 pickle slices) D- 3/4 of a chicken marsala lean cuisine (chicken and mixed vegies) late D- 1 1/2 pieces of salsbury steak ( from the freezer queen frozen dinners) 1 TBS Mashed potatos w/ gravy 1 TBS collard greens snack- 1 cheese stick and a few soy crisps doesnt this seem like alot?? Calorie wise its under 1000 cal. and under 50 carbs. I was just under the impression that after surgery a bite or two would fill me up. thats not the case. Nothing has made me sick or gotten stuck at all!!! Im really beginning to wonder if my doc really did the surgery at all. HELP!!!!!! Mary

It sounds really good to me!!! It's funny- I used to wonder if I had the surgery at all too. Today I ate something BAD and I got sick for the first time. I can't tell you how pleased I am that I got sick. I'm an envelope-pusher and I really needed that!!! Do you see a nut? If so- I'd run it by her. Holly

Thanks Holly, I know what u mean. I keep hoping to get sick or stuck or SOMETHING!! I know thats crazy...most people would be glad they dont have any problems, and I am, but like I saud I just thought Id be full on alot less. I had my surgery in Mexico so no bariatric doctor here will see me, so no I dont have a nut. Wish I did. But these mess. boards help alot. Mary

Hey Mary! It sounds like a lot to us because we thought we would be eating much less...but when we compare what we eat now to what we used to eat....it does not seem like much at all! Under 1000 calories is what my nutritionist suggest I do right now. Today I had about 4 oz of light yogurt for breakfast, lunch I ate about 2.5 chicken drummettes (little hot wing pieces) and for the first time I got sick eating cause I did not chew chew chew!! I too was being to wonder if I had actually had surgery because it has been nothing like I thought it would be. For dinner I ate the other 2.5 drummettes and had about 2 ozs of chili with out beans for the protein. I did not really have a good protein day today. But there is always tomorrow. While I was eating my lunch at got full of the two hot wings...I was like man I remember I could eat 5 of the hot wings, three chicken fingers, bread, fries, celery and carrots and still wonder what I else I wanted! So it is a big difference in how we all used to be able to eat! I wish they made the frozen dinner more carb friendly!! Most of the ones I like have either rice or potatoes in them....or corn which I don't like or pasta...but anyway...I am getting tired of eating the same ole things each day..so hopefully some one will post some good ideas! Talk to you soon

HI Stephanie. Youre right, I dont eat a fraction of what I did pre-op, but sometimes I feel like I could. I havent had that full feeling yet...I just stop because Im scared I really will be able to eat as much as before and that would freak me out!!! I KNOW i could eat more than 2 and a half drumettes!! LOL!!! But Im sure my calorie intake isnt over 1000 yet so thats good. The lean cuisine dinners are pretty carb friendly. The one I had was chicken marsala and it had a piece of chicken and mixed vegies like brocolli, carrotts... It was good and only like 200 cal. for the whole meal. But it said it was a 8 and a half oz meal and I ate most of it. Thats what scares me. Im gonna try and post this more often if only to keep myself in check. Thanks for replying. Mary

Looks to me like you're doing fine. What I ate Monday: 4 oz Dannon Light and fit carb control yogurt with 2 TBSP ground flax seed and a few Special K high protein cereal flakes tossed in. 2 oz Tuna mixed with a little lite mayonaise and pickles, 3 saltine crackers. 2 homemade peanut butter protein balls (10 g protein each). Chicken fajita - 1 small low carb tortilla, 2 oz chicken, a little fresh spinach, a couple of tomato chunks, a sprinkle of grated cheese, salsa, and fat free sour cream. I also had one smartforme protein drink. I probably should have had one more protein drink or some ff/sf protein pudding, but I was too full. Margaret

HI Margaret, those protein balls are great arent they?? I love 'em. I dont like the protein drinks so they really help me get some protein in. The storebought bars are ok but kinda heavy. I have yet to feel that full feeling. I was told once the nerves healed I would, but it hasnt happened. This is soo dofferant than I thought it would be. Mary

Would you please share the recipe for the peanut butter protein balls? They sound so good. Thank you, Faith

Faith, This is the one I used. I store them in the freezer, just because I like them frozen. Protein Balls Recipe The pb and oatmeal balls are VERY easy. 1 cup Peanut Butter (I used natural, no sugar pb) 1 cup rolled oatmeal -- not the instant stuff 1 cup protein powder (I used Unjury Chocolate, but you can use other flavors) 5 packets Splenda Warm the peanut butter in microwave about 30-40 seconds -- it melts it and makes mixing in the other ingredients much easier. Add the oatmeal, protein powder, and Splenda and mix well. (If needed, you can add a little bit of water to make it easier to mix) Roll into walnut sized balls, refrigerate. Store in fridge in zip-lock baggies. This recipe makes 20-24 balls. I doubled the recipe and it made 36 balls...probably a little bigger than "walnut size"..more like pingpong ball size. I calculated each to have approx. 100 cal. and 10 g protein. They probably have 10g of carbs as well, but they're all "good" carbs. YUMMY! Margaret
