Ok, I am now ready to move on to the the real vitamims and not the kids chewable and the chewable calcium..at least that is what my doctor's manual says....so last night was the first night I tried them..and boy did I feel those pills going down! I was not able to do much else but get in the bed. This morning I tried again (I have the petite calcium type pills) and they multi vitamin did ok...but five hours later I was taking my petite calicum pills (which was about 8 hours ago) and I feel horrible! I am really sick to the stomach, not able to drink anything, much less eat anything..and then I feel like I want to.... Has any one else had this experience with vitamins? What brands are you guys using? Do you mind sharing a list of the supplements you are taking? I think I am going to go back to chewables for now because this is for the birds! I am so not feeling well right now and it feels like the pills are just sitting in my throat..I but I cant just feel like I need to. This is TMI but when I took the calicum earlier today...I did get the "slimes" or foamy mouth for the first time since surgery and I am so over this!!! HELP!!! Thanks

Stephanie--I'm about a week ahead of you and I still take the Centrum Chewables twice a day. My dr. didn't say anything about ever taking anything else. I also use the Centrical Calcium Chews. My B-12 is the tiny one under the tongue every day. I think I would go back to the chewables if I were you. Hope this helps. Jen

Hi Stephanie - I still take chewable vitamins. I take the chewable Centrum multi, citrical chewey bites - calcium, b-12 under the tongue. I also take actigall which is a pill and that sometimes gets stuck and some times my rx iron pill is tough going down. I don't think that I will switch to just pills anytime soon - the chewables are just fine. Marta

I kinda have trouble taking vitamins too, but I assumed its just because I'm still adjusting and all, so I was waiting until my next surgeon visit to tell them about it. I take the kind sold at my clinic, which consists of 4 pills in the morning, 1 (iron) at noon, and 4 more pills in the evening. That's 9 per day. And I really have to space them out. My doc says take them 15 minutes apart, but I have to take them at least 30 minutes apart or I start to feel a back-up happening. It's icky. Wish I knew what to tell you, but I'm just kinda dealing with it right now. Hopefully it gets better?

Thanks everyone for replies and information!!! I really appreciate it. And yes hopefully it will get better. My surgeon has me taking about 6 pills a day. I have to take a multivitamin twice a day, with iron, calicum with Vitamin D 600 mg twice a day, plus the B-12 sublingual 2500 once a week but I can take every day if I want to. The calicium ones are getting me right now and I am going to go out and get the citrical chewables today. I was trying to be economical on that one. The chewables only have 60 in the pack and the pills had 120 for the same price. But any, I have learned my lesson good! I have not taken anything today cause I did not want to feel bad but I will be headed out to walmart in a few and take one as soon as I get in the car.

I decided to get Calcium Caplets, I ordered them( well she is in the next town, so I drove to get them) from www.Vitalady.com. I capsule breaks down in 5 minutes and it's much easier on me than the petites. I take 2 pills in the morning, 2 in the evening...I think this is plenty and I did my reseach and to much calcium seems to be bad also...so 2000 units are fine I also take Biotin 2500 mg a day, for hairloss..also in a capsule. And liquid iron ( floradix iron and herbs) ..but I take that once every 2 days. I also take liquid sublingual B12 once a day And my chewable multivitamin.

biotin for hair loss?... I heard Zinc was supposed to help, but I haven't asked my surgeon about it yet... and I get a B12 shot at his office once a month... I've heard of alternatives to injections though... a nasal spray daily? and does anyone know the difference between the B12 options.. like the spray vs the one you put under your tongue/pills and the injection?

I'm still taking the flintstones chewables twice a day and I take a chewable iron and the B-12 is the kind you put under your chin. The calium and D I take are powdered form called upcalD which I got from www.vitalady.com. I am going to continue to take them till they are gone. Anna

Stephanie: I'm with you when it comes to taking vitamins, I hate it and it just makes me sick thinking about it. My dietician says to stay on chewables for a very long time and once I go to the regular pills in about 3-4 months to break them in half. She suggested pills should be nothing larger than the size of a smartie. I take 2 chewable Centrum multi-vitamins and 2 chewable Calcium Citrate every day and then I take a B12 strip(1000) every 3 days. The B12 strip just melts on your tongue, I wish all my vitamins went down that easy. I start dry heaving at the time of day I'm thinking about taking my vitamins. I never was a vitamin taker before surgery so this is a big adjustment for me. I have vomitted my vitamins up so much, I think boy what a waste! Hopefully our minds will get over that in time. I suggest like others that have replied to this post you go back to chewables. Your pouch is not ready for solid pills yet. Cheers Debbie G 303/242/?
