I want to eat so badly
Hi everyone:
As my title says I'm so desparate to start eating.......I've had a very emotional day today since I can only get fluids down and now I'm even vomitting on liquids. These last 5 weeks have been pure hell for me.
I was back in the hospital two weeks ago in ER for 7 hours and they thought I had a stricture but the surgeon said he wouldn't do a Gastroscopy unless I was 5 to 6 weeks post op because I could still have swelling from my initial surgery.
So last week I went back to hopsital for an UPPER GI and Barium swallow tests and they found out I don't have a stricture or swelling but narrowing/closure from the exit from the pouch. My surgeon was booked solid and couldn't do the procedure that day.
I have to go back to the hospital next Tuesday to get this Gatroscopy procedure done where they stretch or try and dilate the opening up. My surgeon says it is really quick and easy (just day surgery).
I just want to eat some food, I never made it to the pureed or soft food stage, just full fluids and when I read other posts I get so upset I'm not past the beginning stage.
I'm so mad, milk and protein shakes are too thick. I water soup down, and add milk to yogurt to make it more liquidity to just go down, sometimes it comes back up immediately. Everything gets stuck and I feel like I'm going to choke. Two times I almost called 911 I got so scared when I couldn't get simple stuff unstuck. I'm sick of being sick.
Has anyone else ever had narrowing/closure and did it re-occur? Also how long after they do the procedure will it be before I can experience some food with texture?
Signed....desparate to eat!

" but narrowing/closure from the exit from the pouch."....my understanding is that's what a stricture is.
I know some people have them opened up as early as 3 weeks post op. Strange how all surgeons are so different. Someone here on the January board had a stricture early on and had the surgery to correct....I can't remember who but hopefully she'll post in reply.
I'm praying for you!

Hi Debbie,
I'm so sorry you are having this set back. The good news is that it's fixable. You may want to post your question to the weight loss surgery graduates forum. I would imagine there are some folks there that had this happen early on for them too. They are suppose to be at least one year post op to post in that forum so I'm thinking you may tap in to some "experience" there.
I do believe you will soon be done with all this. My goodness it's no wonder you have lost so much weight so very fast.
I'll say a prayer that this agony ends soon for you.

Anna;
thanks for you kind words and I appreciate your big prayers. I sure can use them. I'm counting down the days ... 2 more sleeps LOL.
I'm also thankful that is it is fixable otherwise I would have continued to regret having this surgery.
I know there are better days again.
Thanks for the (((((((hug))))))))))) I really needed that as well.

Thank you so much.
I have been through hell and have regretted doing this surgery every single day. I can't even get excited about my weight loss feeling this crappy.
I soooo much appreciatedyour hugs and prayers.
I'm positive the Gastroscopy procedure will bring me much needed relief.
Thanks again
Debbie
