Landed in the hospital!!!

UGH! I have had a bad cough that has gotten worse and into my lungs. It went from Bronchitis to Pneumonia and I had to go to ER because I wasn't breathing right. They couldn't get it under control so they admitted me. This was yesterday and I'm still here today. Hopefully going home tonight or tomorrow. I'm still a little wheezy but feeling better. I guess landing in the hospital will stop me from weighing myself daily. lol! A couple good things I found out since I've been here. My A1C (average blood sugar in 2-3 months) went from 7.5 to 6 %. I couldn't be happier about that. And my cholesterol went from 185 to 120. My doctor was happy about that. Now the not so good news. The predisone sucks! It has made me swollen (rings are tight again) and brought my sugars up. UGH! My doctor said this is very common and don't get alarmed. Still, feel like YUCK all swollen. Can't wait until I'm off of this!!!

Sorry to hear you are under weather Janie!! Hope you have a speedy recovery!!! And it is good to hear that you are in good spirits too!! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Janie, praying for you that you will be out of the hospital soon and on your way to a healthy you!! Congrats on the good readings. I know all about prednisone and yes it is a bummer. Hope you get feeling better real soon. Anna

Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. My doctor let me come home last night. My chest is still tight but loosening up. This was pretty scary!

Hi Janie, I'm sorry to hear you are in the hospital. What are they doing for you? I have never had pneumonia. Are we more likely to get it after WLS or have you had it before? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I hope you are feeling better. Darla

Hey Darla - I needed to be in the hospital because I could barely breath my chest was so tight. They were giving me antibiotics and steroids through and IV and giving me breathing treatmens. I don't think this had anything to do with the WLS though, I just caught a bad infection in the lungs. Don't worry about the questions, ask away!

Your welcome hon! Yes, I went home last night and feel somewhat better. I just have to stay in the house and get better the doc says. I'm taking all of my meds and trying not to do too much, when I do I get out of breath. The antibiotics and steroids are kicking in though! THanks!
