I think I can eat too much
Hi Everybody!!! I am 7 weeks post op and I think Im able to eat more than I am supposed to. Itry to stay between 3-4 oz, but for example Im able to eat 2 homemade tacos, a half a sandwich, 2 slices of very very thin frozen pizza...tonight I even had a half of a chicken fajita from whataburger!! Then later I ate the other half minus the tortilla. Doesnt that sound like too much?? But if I eat leass Im not satisfied and I have yet to feel that FULL sensation, or my pouch saying stop!! Nothing has made me sick or felt like its stuck either. Im so afraid Im gonna blow this. I have lost 51lbs but alot of that is fluid loss because i was very swollen in my legs and belly pre-op. HELP!!!

Hi - I was told by Dr. - that after 5 weeks to try and eat 3/4 cup or up to 4/5 oz. of food per meal - 3 times a day and up to 1 cup of snack in between. I too thought that I was starting to eat more and then I started to meas. again and was surprise to find that I was not going over. Some days i feel like i can eat more that 3/4 cup - but - i don't - other day I can't even get that much down. I do happen to get that stuck feeling so it keeps me in check. If you want to make sure the specific amount you should be eating check w/ your doctor and your nutritionist if you can.
Keep up the good work - 51 pounds it alot to lose......

Hi Marta...thanks, thats reassuring. Ive been keeping it under 4-5oz because im scared to screw anything up, but I too feel like I caould eat more. My surgeon is in mexico but I did email him and he said not to worry. Some people can hold more. But it sure is scary. if I can eat this much now lord help me in 6 months. I sure dont wanna fail at this.

Mary,
When I read your topic, I was thinking "this is me"!!!!!! I am about 4 weeks postop, and had some complications. (post op bleed, and landed back on the operating table, and infection in the incision, and back in the hospital). With all that, I wasn't eating very well, until after the infections was cleared, and I wasn't so nauseated. I have lost about 35lbs so far. My issue is, now that I'm feeling better, I feel like I am eating too much. I can eat about 1-2 cups of food at a time. Not that I feel hungry (as they say is normal), but when I sit down to eat, I can't tell any difference from my first bite of food, to my fifth. I know I usually eat mostly soft food, with maybe a small amount of meat. per meal, but I feel like it's too much. I too am very worried that I'm going to blow this. I've talked with others who have had this surgery, and they had such a different experience the first few months. They couldn't eat hardly anything. I am worried that something is wrong!!!! My doctor says that I'm doing fine, but it is good to hear someone else has had my same experience. Thanks so much for your comments.
