Just when I was feeling good about myself......

As requested I went to see my PCP for just a brief post op follow up appointment and some blood work. I was feeling really good because I have lost 40 lbs so far and I was excited to have her see my progress. The assistant weighed me in, checked my blood pressure and heart rate and everything looked wonderful. The Doctor finally came in and we started to talk. She then told me that she was very concerned that I had lost 40 pounds in just a month. She thought that was too fast and that I needed to be careful and take some precautions. This totally smacked me in the face. The happiness that I felt left my body and I just can not seem to get it back. I have talked with my surgeon and the staff and they say that I am doing great and things are going as they should. It has been a really long time since I can remember feeling good about myself and I forgot how quickly you can slip into a rut when you feel negatively about yourself. I am trying to get out of that because I am a new me. Thanks to everyone that has been supportive on this rollercoaster ride.

Hello Danielle, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with your PC. I stay constantly amazed with how little understanding there is with medical personnel and WLS. My PC is so angry with me for having this surgery that I am looking for a new PC that will support me and has knowledge of how this surgery works. I had my surgery on the 29th and lost 20 lbs. in the first three weeks. Except for being tired, I feel great. Best of everything in your journey! Don't let the turkeys get you down! Faith

Oh don't let your PCP bring you down. You are doing fantastic and if your surgeon and NUT are happy with that weight loss, you should be too. I'm guessing that your PCP doesn't know too much about WLS. You are doing wonderful!!!

Danielle, hon you are doing so awesome!!!! Woooohoooo congrats to you on your weight loss so far. I have to agree with the others that your pcp may not know much about this surgery. Since your surgeon and your nut are the experts I would definitely go by what they say and since you have done so fantastic you deserve to feel good about yourself!!! Danielle, You are doing amazing. You are becoming more and more healthy and look at it this way... ..We are always being looked at and scoffed at for putting on weight that people shake their head in pity for us, so if you have been able to drop 40lbs and change your life. More power to you. Your body is deciding on the amount of weight you are losing, and you should be proud. Pick that chin up and hold it high, you are AWESOME and anyone who makes you feel otherwise ain't worth a grain of salt. HUGS Crystal 248/211/125 (not too far behind you with 37lbs lost)
